IF we get past Plymuff in the replay next week (note the big IF) we will face the winner between Coventry and Ipswich at home in the 3rd round. A tough draw. Both above us in the table. Don't fancy us here. To be honest I don't fancy us in the replay either so could be a pointless thread anyway!

Just a funny feeling that we will beat Plymouth in the replay and Ipswich in the next round.

I remember going to Ipswich in an F A Cup tie back in the last century somewhere on a RATS coach and getting the windscreen bricked out somewhere on the North Circular ( Pre M25 days ). It was a Tuesday night game if I remember and we got hammered. Coach driver got the glassware sorted though and we got back home safely at around 02.00am, those were the days !!!

I went to that game. Lost 2-0 I think? My coach was fine though <laugh> I was in the young pirates coach as I was just a teen myself :)

However... the coach I was on when we went to Liverpool in the cup replay got bricked after the game. The back window and a side window.

It was the replay of the 2-2 draw in the snow, 1978 which shouldn't really have been in my opinion as a certain Mr R Gould had a perfectly good goal chalked off for off side which would of made it 3 - 1 and perhaps beyond an Ipswich come back, where was VAR when you needed it eh ? I think we lost the replay 3-0 and didn't Ipswich then go on to win the cup that year ?

I have a feeling that the ref for the first game was that bloody awful Brian Daniels from Brentwood in Essex, how that man ever held down a referees position I will never know .

I just checked and the replay game I was on about was 13th January 1998 <ok>

Same season as when Holloway scored that last minute cracker at the Mem against Gillingham in the 1st round of the FA Cup in that 2-2 thriller. Julian Alsop got our 1st goal that game. In that replay we won 2-0 away thanks to goals from Hayles and Penrice. 2nd round was away at non league Wisbech. I went to this game and I remember the bad racism that Hayles received. He had a banana thrown at him. We won that game 2-0 with goals from Hayles and Beadle. Then the Ipswich 3rd game at the Mem. We drew 1-1 thanks to Beadle's goal. I went to the replay and we actually lost 1-0, not 2-0 like I thought.

Back in the dark ages 60s or 70s I seem to remember losing a cup match against Ipswich when a desperate clearance by their CH sailed over the keepers head possibly Cashley hit the crossbar rebounded on to the keepers back and went into the net and we lost on that goal

Yes, Wisbech Town away, I was there too, a funny little ground tucked away behind the houses although now it is just houses, the club sold out a few years ago and now play at the Fenland Stadium to the north of the town. I remember before travelling to that game that we were warned that there might be some racial abuse and the locals didn't disappoint { If that's the right phrase } it was shocking stuff but nothing I hadn't witnessed before at places like Fratton Park and The Den. I studied over in that neck of the woods for a year back in the mid seventies and the locals were always a bunch of neanderthals then, probably still the same now as well.

If we get through the replay.... who do you prefer? Ipswich (2nd in L1) or Coventry (5th in L1)?

One of those games when you just know you aren't going to score. Your goal was a tad fortunate, well very fortunate to be exact. We will play a load worse than that in other games and win them. Decent entertaining game with a disappointing end for us. Best of luck with the next round but think you will need to be better than you were tonight.
