As Leicester City have inflicted first defeats of the season on both Brighton and Southampton in your last two home games, Foxes fans are in a fairly unique position to form an opinion on which of the 2 newly promoted clubs are best equipped to make back-to-back promotion bids. My question is this, which of them, if either, do you think will be near the top by April, and are you confident that now Sven is getting City winning again you will finish in a higher position than both Saints & Seagulls? Best of luck in your League Cup game against Cardiff.
I was at both games and i gotta say that southampton was the tougher team out of the 2, i think both teams will be around the play off bt in this league u neva knw what goin happen City r nw starting to get it together which is very pleasing to see so i hoping for a gud season were city gt automatic promotion bt it will be tough Good luck for rest season
Brighton were defensively sound but **** up front whereas Saints were the opposite. Playoffs for both I think.
Both teams have the potential to finish in the top 8 - but may need to strengthen in depth during the January transfer window to do so - which means the season may hinge on funds made available. It will be interesting to see how Brighton bounce back from that first defeat - Saints have done it empatically.
I think the Saints were defiantly the better team when both came down here and I fancy them to be the better of the two. They have the funds to strengthen their defence in January and I think they have more depth than Brighton. Very similar in quality overall but I'm going for both in the play-offs but Saints to finish higher. Brighton have a very talented manager in Gus Poyet and play a style of football that will be too good for most teams to handle.
I think Southampton will finish in the top 4. Brighton will be top 9 and might sneak the play-offs but I can't see them challenging for the top 2. Southampton deserved to beat us on some levels whilst we beat Brighton comfortably.
Thanks for you responses. Saints seem to be 'riding along on the crest of a wave' at the moment! When the wave breaks we will find out how well we swim. Brighton were very hard to beat last term, but set out to be hard to beat whereas Saints try to win every time. This is the difference I see between the two. As for Leicester, if Sven sprinkles his 'magic dust' on his assembled stars, automatic promotion awaits you. It's the 'IF' I wonder about.
I agree that saints looked a better team than brighton and i think now that the bubble has burst brighton may well struggle
Definitely Southampton for me. Look far more dangerous going up front and a stronger midfield as well. Brighton look decent going at the back and their build-up play is good, but they lack penetration. My predictions would be Saints will finish between 3rd and 5th and Brighton are in and about the top 10.
