I disagree with you. This league is getting tougher and tougher. Not the same standard when Blackburn won it.
40 points from 42 and we still haven’t hit anything like our best form. Injuries and the (lack of) depth of quality in our squad means that we will need every single one of the points that we currently lead by - at some point, it is inevitable that our wheels will fall off.
****ing 2-1! We had so many chances to put it to bed much earlier, but of course we do it the difficult way
It does feel a bit churlish to be moaning about our form when we are at least 8 pts clear after 14 games #realproblems
Yeah...if the ref (Atkinson again wasn’t it?) hadn’t ignored the foul on Origi, we’d be 42/42 which is 56% of Utd’s total that year (after only 14 games) rather than 53%. Good shout
Atkinson also tried to screw us in the VAR box for Firmino's armpit being offside He's as bent as anyone ever but knows the media will never hold him accountable so long as his crimes are against Liverpool, reminiscent of certain other authorities...
Excellent form made even more remarkable when you consider we've faced all the big sides and we've played not even close to our best. You can see the team are hell bent on winning it this year and the lead does seem to be making them tense up for whatever reason. You do feel the message is just get through the run of games by any means Necessary. We look very disjointed all over the pitch, we look vulnerable at the back, midfield not offering much protection and not much going forward.. You do worry about Keita if he can't get a game and Lallana is coming on before him, we are crying out for the player he was meant to be. Front line looks fatigued and not on song.. You just feel like we need to thump someone 5-0 to get it going again. All in all you can't moan too much but you do feel like it could come undone at some point if we don't click out of this nervesness.
Nerves are one thing. Being totally and utterly f#cked is something else. Very little rotation due to lack of squad quality will come back to hurt us. Mark my words.
We did the same thing last year; took the lead in the title race, tensed up and battle for for points whilst not playing great. We only started playing better football once Man City had overhauled us.
I know that the ref is not obliged to wait for a team to set up with direct free kicks, but that was a dick move by Atkinson to blow whilst the keeper was all the way on his left post.
