For SAFC? For me it's Bruce. Built a cracking side that involved bent, gyan, steed, zenden, hendo, mensar, sess. Players like that seem a distant memory now. Bruce got hounded out, and sadly the club only went backwards season upon season after his departure.
Bruce or allardyce. Bruce’s final league placing of 10th speaks for itself. Allardyce was starting to build something until England called. the rest have Been pretty much useless and had no idea how to progress the club. The club also had no idea how to manage them or support them. at the end of the day results talk and bullshit walks. parkinson looks like a dead man walking already. 2 wins in 11 games is simply appalling.
Steve Bruce. Who I imagine will be hounded out by our lot just as he was hounded out by yours. I ventured on this board to actually ask your opinions on the David Moves to Everton rumours. Seems like a decent place for it, how would you guys feel about that? I can't tell if he is genuinely a poor boss or just chose his jobs poorly. It felt like you guys were destined for the drop, he was mad to take the job.
Generally speaking you're only as good as your last job and his time with us showed what a poor motivator he is and his relationship with the players deteriorated about as badly as it's possible to be. Big old chip on his shoulder about Man United too which he'll still have. Maybe he'd do fine with a team doing great, which isn't saying much, but with Everton in the state they're in it's got disaster written all over it. To answer the OP big Sam all day for me, he got every last ounce of ability and effort from us and as soon as he left it all went tits up.
Unquestionably Bruce. Had he kept his nerve I think he’d have done great things here. He built a really decent sode, but wasn’t able to react when it needed some updating around the Bent fiasco. We could have rode that out as we had Gyan, but he became paralysed with fear of losing. Was a real shame, l liked the fella, still do, as a bloke. Allardyce we will never know but he could have passed him.
In terms of the size of the task he had and how close he came to achieving the set targets, the best manager we've had in the last 10 years was Jack Ross. The bloke basically had to rebuild the squad from scratch and he still almost got us promoted. Bruce built the best team in the last 10 years and achieved the best finish. Di Canio was the most charismatic and came closest to seeing through the bullshit. Out of those three for me.
I didn't think about Ross for some reason. Pre Ross: horrible losing mentality, nothing to celebrate and unhappy fans During Ross: impossible to beat, cup finals and content fans Post Ross: horrible losing mentality and fans more toxic than ever The bloke deserves praise.
Well, I think so but it's an unpopular opinion around here. Something about hoofball and eye-bleeding I think.
Paulo by a country mile love to know where we would be now if he was allowed to kick all the ****e out, can't believe he was doing what the fans wanted by going to get rid of all the dross but they still expected him to get them to play well after they new they were for the chop so he was hounded out talk about thick fans.
I honestly believe we are past anything no matter who comes in we really need a shed load of money just to bring some better hungry players in who really want to do well and grow with Sunderland
