Had we come out and shown no fight in the 2nd half and it finished 4-0 that really would have been our season royal fooked and relelgation calling. I think most of Tyneside and the whole squad were still Shocked/Gutted etc at AC being sold and it showed in the Fulham game and the first half against Arsenal. We were down in the dumps but the 2nd half performance showed determination and that the team spirit is very much alive in the team. The Arsenal result will give a huge lift to the whole squad and all involed that they should fear nobody and can get something from every game and we can cope without AC. I'm feeling much more positive for the rest of the season now. HWTL
Absolutely right - at half time on Saturday we arrived at a watershed. Imagine the drop in morale and spirit for the rest of the season if the second half was the same as the first. Instead, I believe the team really turned a corner. Four goals? Against Arsenal? They must be on cloud 9 now (I know I am) and in the perfect frame of mind to progress for the rest of the season. And please everybody, forget Carroll. At ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã35m I would have been annoyed if we didn't sell him.
The more I think about it the better business I really think it is, if reports are to belived he's out for another 6-8 weeks that takes us to the end of March / April so he wouldn't have played any ways. If we had given him a new contract he'd have been earning more money for being crocked, which is probably why the board said the summer for a new contract. So ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã35 million for a crocked player that you'd only get 1-2 month out of for the 2nd half of the season = good business. Wonder if the board knew that??? MA seems shady enough to sell an injured player on LOL. As for putting 4 past Arsenal this should blow away the cobweb and doom everyone is feeling and see us playing like the team we know we can be
we could be safe by the end of feb if we win the next three, blackburn (a), brumshire (a), bolton (h). probably wont win all three but imagine.....
We have an 'easier' run now (on paper) until we get Man U at home: Blackburn (H) - W Birmingham (A) - D Bolton (H) - W Everton (H) - L Stoke (A) - D Wolves (H) - W Villa (A) - L Taking 11 points in this should see us safe on 42 points. We could even pick up more than this (Everton home, i just have a bad feeling with Saha back on form).
Definitely right, I was saying to myself at half time that it was going to be a long hard run in after this result/ Fulham result/Carroll off then by then end of the 2nd half belief had returned and I know we'll be safe this season. Hopefully a sentiment shared by the squad.
I hope Pardew will sit down with the whole team and show them the full match, first half how not to play. 2nd half this is what I expect for the full 90+ every game. The players should be walking 10 feet tall and go into the Blackburn game with a much needed lift. We're pretty evenly matched with Blackburn, but on are day can get a result. 1 Game at a time lads
By 3:30pm on saturday, I was resigning myself to relegation again. It felt like 2 years ago, the team giving up, no fight, no spirit. However, by 5pm, I was proven wrong. This set of players should never be even compared to the team of 2 years ago. These players care for this club, they want to succeed with this club and that is what will keep us in the league this season. The second 45 minutes of the game on saturday showed why Newcastle United is a club we can all be proud of again.
Our home form has been bad this season. Not predicting result's just taking one game at a time and hopefully Saturday has lifted the player's.
I think the team will have their tails up now, Blackburn are a hit and miss team and also lost at the weekend. We also have Tiote and after his slip up aginst Blackburn hopefully will want to put that right, plus their 2nd was a foul on Willo so who know's fingers crossed. As you say 1 game at a time.
totally disagree a loss no matter what manner in feb does not finish your season,to compare this team to the one two seasons ago is like comparing Susan Boyle to Angelina Jolie in the looks department. The team two seasons ago showed no fight or togetherness now if we had folded on sat and lost heavily i think we'd have done what we did after the Bolton game and proved we were up for the fight.
Blackburn look better under Keane. Only downside for us is still in striker's. Anybody know if it was just cramp for Best or something else on Saturday.
Alright maybe it wouldn't have been the season down the pan, but it would have had a very negative effect on the squads thinking and self belief. You know how it is your feeling down and something else happens to further pile more misery onto you. This result will have pulled us out of a nose dive which could have been a lot worse.
you could be right and my post wasn't a dig more a look at our team and show a bit more belief this team is a million miles away from the shower of ****e that got us relegated plus we have a few to come back from injury soon.I'm confident we'll stay up and I don't think a top 10 finish is beyond us.
I didn't take it as a dig and maybe I made it sound worse than it was. You are right though, the ****e that took us down last time had no spirit or fight about them and deserved to go down. This time around we have a lot more about us, Barton & Nolan love them or hate them are the heart beat of the team. I think we'll be safe looking at the 10 teams below us, shame to see Blackpool and West Brom sinking. But if it benefits our cause hey ho.
