The BBC will broadcast every 2019 Fifa Club World Cup match live from Qatar this December.

The competition kicks off on 11 December and will feature the champions of each continent.

European champions Liverpool will compete in the 16th edition of the competition in the capital Doha.

Jurgen Klopp's team take part from the semi-final stage, but will also field a separate team back in the UK in the Carabao Cup.

    When do Liverpool play?
Liverpool's first match will be at the semi-final stage on 18 December, followed by either the final or third-place play-off on 21 December.

The Premier League leaders took part in the competition in 2005 following their Champions League triumph in Istanbul, but lost 1-0 to Sao Paulo in the final.

Real Madrid are the holders after they defeated Al-Ain 4-1 in Abu Dhabi last year.

Who are the other teams involved?
The Club World Cup is annual tournament featuring the champions of six continents.

Joining Liverpool are Brazilian side Flamengo, who beat Argentina's River Plate on Saturday to win the Copa Libertadores and secure their spot.

Also, in this year's contest, are Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal, Tunisia's Esperance de Tunis and Monterrey from Mexico, as well as Oceanian champions Hienghene Sport - from the tiny Pacific island of New Caledonia.

    Host team Al-Sadd complete the seven-team line-up.

    Why Qatar?
Qatar will host the next two Club World Cup tournaments in 2019 and 2020, with both serving as test events for the country hosting the 2022 World Cup.

Fifa has moved the next World Cup to a new slot in winter because of the oppressive summer heat in Qatar.

World football's governing body says the timing of the the Club World Cup will allow "for testing under similar climatic conditions".

Liverpool's matches at the tournament will be played at the new Education City Stadium in Doha, which has been built for the World Cup.

    How can you watch?
Liverpool's games will be shown live on BBC TV and every other match will be available to watch online and on the BBC iPlayer.

Philip Bernie, head of BBC TV Sport, said: "We're very excited to broadcast the Fifa Club World Cup and show audiences the best teams in world football across our free-to-air channels.

"Along with the Fifa World Cup, Uefa European Championship and FA Cup, this competition is a fantastic addition to the BBC's football portfolio."

    Club World Cup schedule
Al-Sadd v Hienghene Sport (11 December, 17:30 GMT, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport online)

Monterrey v winner of match one (14 December, 17:30 GMT, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport online)

Al-Hilal v Esperance de Tunis (14 December, 14:00 GMT, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport Online)

Fifth-place play-off: Loser of match two v Loser of match three (17 December, 14:30 GMT, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport Online)

Semi-final: Flamengo v winner of match three (17 December, 17:30 GMT, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport Online)

Semi-final: Liverpool v winner of match two (18 December, 17:30 GMT, BBC Two and BBC iPlayer)

Third-place play-off: (21 December, TBC depending on the outcome of 18 December semi-final)

Final: (21 December, TBC depending on the outcome of 18 December semi-final)

Yeah. We can call ourselves The Best Team In The World then, even if we end up not winning our own league.

I'd send the kids to this one, and the first team to the LC tie at Villa, but what do I know? I suppose, as evidenced by the huge amounts of our fans in Istanbul for the Super Cup, we have a big fanbase in the region, and they want to see the team in the flesh. And we want to sell replica shirts and all that...

And Mane and Mo seem up for it. Maybe it's a big deal elsewhere in the world. Personally, I'd rank it lower than the old Senior Cup, and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, but what do I know, I ask again? Just who the ****, in this country, takes this garbage seriously? Does it even count as a major trophy if you win it?

I'll be pleased if we win it, I'll watch the final of we're in it and I'm glad it's on at a sensible time.
What level of pleased? Less than the league cup but close to it.

Klopp said he asked the squad and there was no doubt where they wanted to play. Like you say, it's a bigger deal elsewhere and could do some extra good for our global appeal if nothing else.

That Villa game, we would always put a weak team out and I think they Villa would win anyway. Then again we hardly need two extra games in January

    Exactly my point.
We won a highly prestigious tournament and I'm chuffed about it, but you can't claim to be "the best" when you don't even have to be the best to be in it.

I think to send the kids would probably be seen to be as much of a snub as to turn it down. Also, the club wouldn't want to be represented by them on the world stage.

Like the Super Cup, it certainly doesn't count as a major trophy in my book. I see it as nothing more than a show-piece competition and a PR exercise for the sport. As such, I have nothing against it and would look forward to it in the summer, but to have to play it when we're up to our necks in the serious stuff is just plain bad news, imo. The risk to our season just isn't worth it.

I fully believe that the Champions League should only have champions in it
Whether that expands to the cup winners or not I can never make my mind up
They could do all sorts to combat the usual tripe that states we can’t have cup winners in it but either way, the fact is the rules for entrance are what they are
We qualified and we won it - it is a league format with a cup thrown in
I think we have every right to claim to be best in Europe cause we won that title same if real won it or utd.
We can sing Champions of Europe - cause we are.
It is not us that have designed the comp
Equally we are not Champions of England.

IF (and I think it’s a big if) we win the CWC we will be able to legitimately sing Queens - we are the champions at games - cause we would be Champions of the world
It would be a statement of fact
You can not agree you can not like it you can even disregard it
But it would be there all the same :)

Because of my let’s say negative disposition though I am just waiting for the hammer to fall on this season
    Lmao :)

    Garbage argument.

You qualify for the CL based on the previous year's league performance. Therefore any team that qualifies for the CL but makes transfers in summer should be thrown out because it's not the same team any more.

City won the league because of a wonder goal by Kompany. Kompany doesn't play for them any more. So how the **** are they allowed to play in the CL this year?

The PL winning City side includes Kompany. No Kompany no CL #endof

BTW it's called the "Champions League" not the "Domestic League Champions Last Season League"

It's not an argument, it's a statement of fact.
Winning a competition doesn't make you "the best", apart from the narrow confines of that competition, over the duration of that competition.
You can't honestly claim to be the best in Europe, if you're not the best in your own league.
Your devotion to the club is admirable in some respects, but it denies you any rational perspective.

You are fully justified in claiming to be the best in Europe if you won the last highest level European competition.

BTW why does this argument never get applied to the Olympics? How come more than one competitor from a single country is ever allowed to take part - if you're not the best in your country don't go to the Olympics #endof and don't dare claim to have won a gold medal when you only qualified as second best in your national competition in the first place #fakegold

Even apart from the last CL we're also top of the European rankings which looks at European performance over several seasons

    So there are two options
    1. There's no such thing as the best team and never will be. What's the point of even competing then or discussing it?
    2. There is such a thing as the best team, and it's Liverpool FC.
