If we kept Jan then Ake would be probably all that’s needed. Him, Dave, Jan plus the likes of Tanganga, Foyth, Dier and Davies to all fill in. I’d be pretty happy with that.

Just the FBs and DM left to sort <laugh>

On the one hand it's still a vague, non-committal comment - although the fact Kristof Terreur is running with it rather than some random Belgian site does imply some movement has been made regarding a new contract

Dave still makes me nervous. Obviously talented but looks so tentative and gets bullied off the ball too often.
Was expecting more from him by now.

Tottenham boss Mourinho is hopeful of a new deal for another Belgium defender, 30-year-old Toby Alderweireld. (Football.London)

Alderweireld, whose contract expires at the end of the season, feels "lucky" to work with Mourinho. (Talksport)

Brazilian winger Lucas Moura, 27, says he is "happy" at Tottenham now he is playing in his favoured wide position rather than as a striker. (Times - subscription required)

Tottenham target Bruno Fernandes is still keen to leave Sporting Lisbon, despite signing a new contract with a release clause of £85m. There is an agreement allowing the 25-year-old Portuguese midfielder's exit if an offer of 70m euros (£60m) arrives. (Mail)

Just after Mourinho talked him up in his press conference.
Probably coincidental, though he may have been made aware of the player by the academy staff due to Davies' injury.

WindyCOYS and SuperHotspur have both been raving about Cirkin for a while, and considering he was moved up to the U23s last season the club seem to have high hopes for him too

We're Not The News Of The World Honest report that Poch was planning a January move for Eberechi Eze

Foot Mercato report that we're looking at Saint-Etienne U19 attacking midfielder Mathys Saban, which will go down really well with Danny Rose as Googling him is little use and the only evidence that he exists came from digging around on Saint-Etienne's site as well as UEFA listing him in their Europa League squad

The Torygraph have reported that Christian Eriksen is flat refusing to sign a new contract - so I guess the biggest question for January is whether we trigger the clause in Lo Celso's loan early to sign him for a few million less, or if we go all-out for Bruno Fernandes...right after Fernandes signed a new contract with a bumper release clause

    Transfer Scrum Watch
We've also been linked with Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski, who's on loan at Parma from Atalanta, in recent days...as have Man Utd and Arsenal, because of course. That being said, he does come across as a long-term Lamela replacement as he may play as a winger but operates more like a number ten, and he certainly doesn't shirk on defensive duties either

There's talk that Mourinho doesn't fancy Lo Celso. I hope not as he has looked pretty good in his few appearances.

That would be disappointing, if it's true. He's seen him play competitively less than we have.

Mourinho's gone in and pretty much gone with the old faces and experienced pro's. I get that but I hope it won't take too long to sort the wheat from the chaff and start to look at building for next season by playing those who are likely to still be with us and can be bothered to try..

it will be interesting to see how much more we see of Rose, Eriksen, Dier and whether Big Vic is ever seen again. Barring an injury crisis, 3 of that 4 shouldn't be getting on the bench too often, let alone starting. I'd rather see Sessegnon, Lo Celso and Skippy/Foyth play, despite their inexperience/lack of fitness.

Whilst Eric Dier's currently unfit to play, he could still have a future with us...if he can be arsed to get properly fit.
