Row over Labour's 'NHS for sale' claim.
A row has broken out after Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn claimed he had "proof" the NHS was at risk under a post-Brexit trade deal with the US.

Mr Corbyn said he had a 451-page dossier showing initial talks had taken place, proving the NHS was "for sale".

But Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the claims were "nonsense" and the NHS would not be part of formal talks.

The Tory manifesto explicitly states neither the price paid for drugs nor NHS services will be "on the table".

Meanwhile the SNP has published its manifesto which includes a pledge to "stop the NHS becoming a lever in any international trade deal" through its NHS Protection Act.

This is the first election where I can't bring myself to vote for anyone. Of course as Mark Twain said 'If voting made a difference, they wouldn't let us do it'. But at least usually, for me anyway, there's some sense that you can align some part of your own beliefs up with what one of the parties is 'offering', even if that in itself is a deception. I'm finding that impossible this time around

 

This encapsulates my views perfectly.

 

The closest I can get at the moment is The Green Party, even then there are some of their policies I disagree with.

 

I wouldn't trust them to service a mildly disfunctioning wind turbine, let alone 'run' the country. And let's not lie to ourselves, the government isn't really running the country. But I do think they have important ideas in their manifesto

 

It's not really about them winning and running the country for me, we all know that's not going to happen but if we vote some of them in they can at least be a thorn in the side of either Boris or Jezza. Personally I think that is the way to vote in this election, get more of these fringe parties in so that they can at least cause problems when the government try and pass some nonsense bill that is not in the best interest of the people.

I just think both of the majority parties are awful choices right now. Labour have the right ideas (well, publicly at least) but seem dim and are all about spending what they don't have to improve whilst the Tories are smart but sly bastards who are all about the guys at the top of the food chain and constantly lie assuming the average voter is an idiot. I really wanted to like Jo Swinson but she's not the brightest spark either...country is going down the pan.

 

Not voting for the first time in years (ignoring the referendum). Simply don't trust our want any parties available.

Mansfield is fairly straight forward...
Since the Brexit party decided not to stand against any Tory areas, it's a straight fight out between Ben Bradley (Tory) and Sonia Ward (Labour) in Mansfield now. Only one winner in that fight, Ben Bradley as done a fantastic job locally since getting in last time (the first Tory in Mansfield in about ninety years!)

However, I don't live in the Mansfield District any more, I'm in Newark and Sherwood which as been Tory for years. Can't see anyone else getting in so a bit pointless even if I did feel the urge to vote.

The "people fought and died so you could vote" live irritates the **** out of me. They didn't fight so everyone must vote, the fight so people could vote.

They wasn't fighting so some 18yr snot rag just out of school with absolutely no clue about politics could walk in a booth and randomly tick a box without concern for the consequences of what they voting for.

They were fighting so people could vote if the wanted a day in how the country is supposedly run.

 

It's certainly an important time to think about your vote and to do what you think is right other than voting traditionally or tactically.

 

Everyone decided about this then, or will it be an on the day decision?

I just can't vote in this election, which will be the first time I've ever done that, so I'm either no showing or spoiling the ballot. That's my decision, unless I have a last minute change of heart

 

this was my view but in the end decided i should vote but since
my ballot card was a bit sparse just Tory , Labour , Lib Dem and Green.
i'm suddenly a Green by virtue of the elimination of the unconscionable ,unaffordable and undemocratic .
