Top spot in the table still to play for but Ole has kept his word and put together a team of youngsters to play this fixture. Some great talent in the side (sadly it includes Lingard and Shaw too) but I'm still looking forward to watching Gomes, Greenwood and Chong get the chance to let fly. An early kick-off at 3.50pm - the game is on BT Sport.

Still ahead by the single goal at half time. We’ve had something like 70% possession and the youngsters are playing well - two threats on goal, both Shaw’s fault, perhaps he’s just a bit rusty.

Chong misses a sitter to take us two up, he skied it and 30 seconds later Astana draw level.

2 - 1 to Astana. Wicked deflection off Bernard into his own net.

Not sure how we lose that, story of our season miss so many chances even if it was our youth team and Lingard

Hesitant second half from the youngsters, particularly good performances from Laird and Garner. Lingard couldn't be arsed, even with the armband, he was falling over like an empty drinks can every time he lost the ball and Shaw only seemed to realise he was playing a game of football in the second half. You can't blame the kids for not being too expressive, none of them wanted to be the one that lost the ball so they tended to play short balls to feet rather than try anything too risky.

Can't see that Shaw has any future other than third place stand-in for Williams and Young at LB.
