I am really saddened by the news that he passed away today aged 78. One of my all time favourites, a great servant, and one of the greats to play for Sunderland. My prayers to his family.
Sad to hear this news, one of my favourite players when I was growing up. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. RIP Martin
So sad to hear of the passing of a player from the beginning of my SAFC love , thoughts and prayers with his family at this sad time.
Sad news indeed, as has been said a class act and I was brought up like others on Harvey, Hurley, McNab RIP Martin.
A great man and a great player. His unselfish application and calmness on the ball should be a model for all players.
It took a while to forgive him for replacing Stan Anderson, but you couldn't ignore the talent or his wholehearted style. SAFC through and through. Sad. RIP
When he replaced Anderson, after his last SAFC game against Cardiff when Allchurch ran rings round him, he went on to prove a more than competent replacement who, imho, should have been in the team earlier.
Yeh great player Harvey Hurley McNab A formable three possibly our best in that position They certainly were in their time
RIP Martin. A wonderful servant to this football club. Does he still hold the record for the most International caps by a player while playing for Sunderland?
