Ludlow 1.05pm Top Decision. Our fella is out again tomorrow over a slightly longer trip. Adrian Heskin booked and we are hoping they don't get much rain overnight and in morning. Chief objective is a clear round but he is expected to put in a much improved performance. Very exciting to see how he goes.. I can't really say lump on but I will be having an each way play (obviously).
Another O'Brien to be added to the training ranks in 2020. Donnacha gives up the saddle for a career in training. Doesn't seem to have been riding that long, certainly not as long as his brother. Weight issues? Fair play some pedigree in that family.
Really interesting race. Are you going tomorrow? The Fergal horse could be very well handicapped, but it really hasn't shown anything to this point, so I am guessing they would just want a good run too. I actually think on the bare form, your horse is quite overpriced and fingers crossed he runs very well for you.
Thanks Nass. Heskin has been up at the yard and has schooled our fella. We are expecting a big run but I guess after the mishap at Huntingdon we just want to see a good jumping display which kind of becomes the priority. I am not going myself which is first time I will be missing him run. Have a work commitment I just can't get out of. gutted to say the least.. but luckily race is lunch time so I will get to watch at least.
..And tonight 6.30 Chelmsford City-Prince Rock Each Way @ 6-1 [Bet 365] Been expensive to follow, but knows this place well
Barney when you’ve finished your morning cuppa (t without the G), can you think of another time that two siblings ran on same card and the longer priced won and the other got turned over at odds on? looking forward to your views on the Altior run!
Maybe though if you take the flat runners out of the equation,it’s not too bad and Musselburgh is a track he does best at over jumps
Quick review of the Saturday selected. Was so, so proud of Pym who achieved his debut fencing success at Ascot and must confess had a tear in the old eye as he crossed the line. Whether he now remains in handicaps or moves up to Graded class I guess depends on the assessors revised opinion. The other pair, Lightly Squeeze and The Last Day, were less impressive in finishing 3rd and 4th. Although the latter named severely clouted one of the early fences so it may be wise to put a line through that. Really liked one set to make his fencing bow at Kempton today but The Lieutenant, God bless him and save him, didn’t declare him.
My responses would be (i) no and (ii) I’m not sure what we really learned. I’d love to give a detailed analysis and provide a definite conclusion but just can’t do this as am a bit clueless. Did it prove he’s a stayer??? Don’t know. Did it prove he’s still a mid 170’s horse??? Don’t know. The only thing for sure is that he wouldn’t have beaten Cyrname on Saturday at any distance.
Good luck. Hope he runs really, really well for you and does you proud. Race sponsored I see by the Devizes crew. Did they give out any free samples?!?
Thanks Barney..no free samples all far. . Been told going is soft and he should be bang there if he jumps..
Given that the Lieutenant likes nothing better than a winner at Kempton I find it strange that (a) he only sends 2 runners there today and (b) they are currently priced 15/2 and 12/1. Might an e/w "Barney Rubble" be worth considering?
After Exeter got called off yesterday when quite a few of my notebook horses were due to run, we now have a bit of a feast of a Monday after a poor Sunday. So my views 12:35 - Garry Clermont - He ran in the race that Winnings Everything was so impressive in, and I think the bare form suggests that he needs to do much more. However, he pulled really badly through the first quarter of the race and still was travelling on the turn for home. It was worrying that he didn't find much, but I am prepared to forgive him that because it was an eyecatching performance to that point. 6s looks too big against a horse who is priced up on his name and not the bare form. 12:45 - Timetochill is too short in the market but I hope she follows up under a penalty 1:30 - Just the three notebook horses in this beginners chase, Thomas Darby, The Big Bite and Master Tommytucker. The latter is the one that really interests me, and today has been a long time coming for his connections. He was very taking in the paddock before his Chepstow run 408 days ago and I think the time off will have done him some good too, allowing him to develop into his impressive frame. I'd prefer it if it was over a longer trip today, but at 9/2 I think he is a good bet against Thomas Darby et al. Certainly a race to follow for the future. 1:40 - Hometown Boy - backed this morning and took the eye at Warwick. I have this between the from two in the market so at 4.4 I have to be with him. The favourite is a Fergal horse, who is quite rightly the favourite, but I just think this is a winnable opportunity for Hometown Boy and the price looks right. 2:05 - Annie Mc - she was impressive a few times last season and I think she will continue the form in this. 4.0 on the exchange looks fair 2:35 - Timoteo - Knocked sideways when travelling well at Stratford. Worth giving another chance, Kempton although going the other way, should suit and I expect him to travel into this race very well. 8.8 on the exchange 3:20 - Hold The Note - last but not least! This horse went into my notebook with the line - "will make a lovely chaser". Today we will see if that is true. A lot of racing of good quality, lets hope they don't all burn!!
