And apparently some of them are bashful about playing in front of 30,000 crowds :emoticon-0102-bigsm

    Riley Mcgree from Adelaide United.

21 year old midfielder. Six goals in six appearances this season (2 on the weekend)

Just watched the nine minutes of highlights on the clubs, website which showed Coventry running rings round us for eight of those minutes, those in stripes passing regularly to those in blue shirts, it was embarrassing.
as for who we keep Leadbitter is finished, his legs have gone, Grigg, well everybody knows he's no longer interested in trying for us, so these five targets PP has identified must hit the ground running but sadly I'm afraid we have too much to make up to finish top two and surely no one can face another play off catastrophe.
    time will tell.

Those players confirmed why Ross had to go imo.

We need at least 5 starters. A right back, an attacking centre mid, a right winger, a left winger and a centre forward. The players we have in those positions at the minute are one of two things. Either a. they are ****, or b. they just couldn't give a ****. Am unsure which of these categories they fall into but either way they won't get us promoted. Only O'Nien seems to actually come off the pitch having done a shift.

I think we've got plenty of good (for this level) players tbf, I just think we have a very poor blend. I know everyone bangs on about it (mainly because it's true) but we need a lot more pace and physicality in the side. Our central midfielders, to pick a position, are probably all perfectly good for this level, but together there's very little strength and too often none are getting forward to support the striker. McGeady and Maguire are good at this level (albeit the latter is frustratingly inconsistent) but played together there's no pace out wide. Tin hat on I even think Grigg might be fine but he needs much better service, if he was getting a few chances a game he'd take some and his confidence would improve. We've only, imo, got one glaring weakness in terms of player quality and that's at RB where McLaughlin has been woeful and it's meant having to play O'Nien there even though he's the only one likely to be mobile and attack minded enough to "break the lines" as part of a central 3 in midfield. I'm happy enough with pretty much every other first team starter, but together they're not fit for purpose

Yeh maybe there are a bit better quality than others in league one
However, if they don’t work their socks off there no better than the others

Apparently he is quicker than Watmore but just like Watmore he never lifts his head so no I don’t see him as a number 10 if he could learn to cross the ball or improve his decision making he could be a player but at this moment in time I have my doubts . I thought with his speed as well as Watmore I thought they would tear up this division but it hasn’t happened to date - sorry Smug

I'd agree with that list, and looking at the core there, we should be good enough to get out of this league. But apparently we're not (or at least not looking likely).

    Three observations from me:

The players don't look all that fussed about playing under Parkinson.

We still seem to be the big scalp in the league, the way other teams celebrate scoring against us is bonkers. They all raise their game. Not saying it is an excuse, it's up to the players to deal with it.

We look as nervous as all hell at home, the amount of passes that went straight to Coventry on Saturday was mind boggling.

I see the echo ( via statements ex PP and MM) are postulating thats could be looking at 5 players in the jan window.
That being the case it will be close to 2 teams worth since we tumbled into this god forsaken division.
What a disgrace and testimony to the shambles on and off the pitch.
IF we get promotion are we going to go through the same palaver again.
what about our wage bill and ffp?
Why is it that the likes of wilder, stendel, Bowyer, nathan Jones were able to get smaller, cheaper squads promoted and playing decent footie ( given the league we are in ).
There is enough to get us promoted. We just keep hiring duds to manage them. People seriously believing bringing in the likes of maddison will get us promoted need professional help.

Insane. Who cares about insignificant things like goals and assists when there's so much to whine about.

We should stick in a bid for Eisa too he's the sort of player we could do with. I'm not sure about paying 2.5 mil for Maddison mind, if we were the sellers we'd let him go for 400K or so with his contract being up.

If he played for us, and you believe what you read from some of the whoppas on here, he’s have 0 goals half an assist and have been outed as Whoopi Goldberg in a mask.

"We just keep hiring duds to manage them."

Nathan Jones is typical of how difficult it is to make the right appointment and sometimes it's down to luck more than judgement.

I'm sure Stoke thought they were picking the right man for the job ...

... perhaps they were did and he was the right man but it just didn't work.

Man Utd have made 3 terrible appointments in a row and other clubs, like Everton, are in an endless cycle of the wrong man spending badly and getting nowhere.

It's too early to know whether Parkinson is the right man for our job, he's obviously wrestling with various issues within the club.

January, and beyond, will be the time to judge him and the club imo.

Toney, Eisa and Maddison are bossing it in this league. powerful, aggressive, savvy and confident... and pretty quick. Everything our top line is not.

On current form, the number of good players we have could easily stand together on top of a postbox. Hopefully the rest have posted their CVs in the postbox.

If we could sign these three and get our home grown players , plus O/9 and Willis, fit and involved we would no doubt storm this league, but its a huge ask.
We would also need to get a few moved on to upgrade the squad with five signings and I cant see the deadwood being easy to move.
Even accepting that we cant afford similar quality to the Posh attack. one decent striker in and Grigg out, a pair of competent full backs and better team selection would improve the whole squad, and leave room for our developing players to come through and give us real hope for the future.
I will judge PP not on the window, but on his ability to get more out of the squad with better team selection and coaching acumen. Clearly a job beyond JR, who was way off the mark, and had to go, and if PP does not change his approach soon I can only see a similar outcome.

The lads don't just turn into donkeys overnight.

There is clearly some issues behind the scenes.

My guess is that most weren't happy about Ross losing his job and aren't playing anymore.

Yes he was one of the reasons Coventry kept on coming at us, virtually everytime he headed a clearance it went to a Coventry player.
