watmore got the ball nearly every time in the same area just outside the box and caused problems can Grigg do that ? he has to start with Kimp on tues although only 20,000 there.
Great post mate.....in my eyes most of the best teams I see at whatever level play with high tempo. Once you put Leadbitter, Catts from last season or McGeouch it just slows the whole tempo down. To me this is a recipe for losing momentum and also not taking the game to the opposition which certainly when your playing at home is a must. The team must be energy driven from the heart of our team. Dobson and O'Nien in there together there never going to stop. Likewise up front....for years we have had no pace....time and time again we get it wrong with our recruitment. Not a PP fan to be honest but at least he has mentioned it. It's going to be 50/50 with his current record whether he will still be with us in January to try to rectify this. In simple terms we need two brick sh*thouses upfront that run like sh*t of a stick. We can't afford to carry players like McGeady and McGuirre if there not consistent because in a team if your not pulling your puddings out then it puts pressure on the players. At the moment we are just not good enough to cope with that. Dunc and Benji up front Tuesday night!
It's a real concern if he thinks that. We need 5 first team players with the focus on both midfield & attack. Getting in a good, proper right back allows ONien to push up the pitch. we have good enough players across the rest of our defense. Recruit a big powerhouse midfielder to complement O'Nien & Dobson in the middle. (Robson ain't ready), the rest of our midfield is **** A pacy wide player who can put a cross in and complement Watmore, Gooch and Embleton when he comes back A 'Maddison' at the top of the diamond, with guile, speed and physicality Two big strikers with confidence Up top: keep McNulty on. Let Grigg see if he can play in the right set-up. If not, hoy him in the Wear. Wyke, McGeady and Maguire fight to the death for entertainment.
Spot on Nordic, atm I would have both Hume and O/9 further forward and play D Bock and CMcL at full back, not ideal but better than having those tossers Maguire, Grigg and McGeady (MGM) up front constantly letting us down. Play Kimpy until McN is fit, we might as well.
I didn't even know we had scored til later in the evening. Seriously lost the will today, I'd seen enough against Southend.. Today was the tipping point for me.
Mcnulty is yet another in our tradition of sicknotes. Yes he can play but like watmore and wyke he is either a pansy or soft as clarts. We are carrying such players to be honest and are a waste of a wage
Flanno, dobbo, griggy??? Such togetherness . Really working 8n terms of results. Now looks like 2 of our best players ( Willis and dobbo) will miss at least the burton game. The wheels are coming off methinks
We do seem to get more than our share of injured players, and there seems to be no pattern, I have wondered if the demise of the reserve team has anything to do with it. This is just a random thought but we did not seem to get as many back then, the pace of the game is much faster know,. But it is a problem for us and hits us hard. So many players get injured, just at the wrong time. Off the top of my head in the last year we have lost Gooch, Watmore twice, Embleton, Hume, De Bock, McGeady, Wyke, McNulty, Dobson and Robson just as they were hitting form.
That was as poor a performance as I can remember. Even a draw was robbery. Trying to think what my favourite comedy moments were, it's got to the point where I spend as much time laughing to get through it. The quick free kick that was just in their half that Leadbitter (iirc) tried to just nudge to someone a yard away and managed to pass it about 5 yards past him. Two of our lads (one was O'Nien?) tackling each other in the 6 yard box while they both had a chance to score Maguire playing their striker clean through Burge arseing up a back pass and spannering it out of play. Lynch randomly passing to their players every 5 minutes Watmore failing with his first 4 attempts to cross the ball The list goes on really. ****e. Absolute ****e. Not a chance this group of players will get promoted.
Yesterday was awful. That's all I can be bothered to say about it. I'm like the players, I just cannot be bothered to put the effort in.
Pissing with rain, walked 200 yards to Bus Stop to catch bus to the Galleries and then further bus to match. Got soaked in process of walking to catch 1st bus. Thought, **** this ****, Im not bothering with match (would have got soaked again walking from Jamesons over to Bridge to match). Texted mate to tell him I wasn't bothering. He replied, thanking me for making his mind up for him!! I stayed on 1st bus and enjoyed a few beers in Concord. Got back home in time to listen to later stages of 1st half and 2nd half. Unfortunately I fell asleep before Kimpomka had equalised!! The joys of being a fair weather fan!! Lot to be said for it!
Here's an outside perspective on where we are at the moment. I've just watched the highlights on Quest and Sam Parkin was a guest on the panel. He mentioned that PP had improved our defence but the attack had been poor. We have scored 10 goals in the last 10 games and 5 were in one match. Also said that we had a lot of diminutive players which was causing a problem.
