Not sure what the weather is like up at Haydock but I am guessing they will get some rain this morning..

As long as Haydock stays good to soft and no worse I will be backing Lisnager Oscar each way in the 2.25pm but will wait to near race time to see what the weather is doing..

Haydock 3pm Bristol de Mai 5/4 . Exciting little race where I am siding with a horse who seems to thrive at this course and is good fresh. Frodon might well push him close. Lostinttranslation has to prove he can mix it in the big league and Ballyoptic is surely not good enough.

Really hoping Altior wins the big clash at Ascot.

    Good luck all..

It was visually very impressive but of course there is the possibility he has beaten trees. The Nicholls runner Bravemansgame is one I am looking forward to seeing. Should be a very informative bumper - notebooks at the ready.

3:50 Ascot - Zhiguli 40/1 ew. Backed it on debut last time when never got the chance to perform after being badly hampered before unseating rider. Todays race looks much better but at the price i'm willing to risk a couple of quid

What makes you think he’s primed. Do you know something? Another grand servant he looked finished with the game on his last appearance.

He got done on ground that was too fast for him over a trip too short. In my opinion both runs this season have been full of promise and he’s down 5lbs as a result of Paddy not being hard on him in either race.

My opinion is that Haydock will suit, this race is poor and with the weight difference I can see him going very well.

I’ve not heard anything from the yard, but I did read this morning that Paddy B likes him in his Unibet column.

A no bet race for me but I think Altior gets turned over today. Extra trip, testing ground and a top class rival in what is really a two horse race could just do for him today.

I don't understand all these trainers taking their horses for racecourse gallops when they could just as easily run them in a race and collect some prize money. The Betfair Chase has prize money right down to 8th with only 4 runners going to post:

Also the 1965 Chase at Ascot has only 3 runners but prize money down to 6th:

Surely there are horses out there who could run in these events and at least make it a bit more of a spectacle? The Ascot race, in particular, looks an ideal prep for the King George. I remember Dessie often used the Tingle Creek as his King George prep.

seems odd don’t it dog ! either they can’t be bothered to pay entry fees , or have no need of the prize money or just plain stupid, or all three . there are some canny trainers who do just that in lower grade races , just collect some feed money for essentially schooling round .

Does anyone else think Cyrname is massively overrated?
Might win over todays trip and conditions mind.

he could be, which is why the race today is fascinating. We’ve got the wonderful Altior stepping up in trip and an unknown horse in many regards against him.

Im really looking forward to the racing today

I'm annoyed the Betfair is one of the Scoop 6 races. Forced me into selecting one which I wasn't going to do. Lostintranslation is what I've gone for but not with any real confidence. Would love to see Frodon do it.

100% against Altior in the King George and im against him today as well although not quite as strongly in a 3 horse race over only 2m5. If Cyrname repeats his Ascot runs and Altior runs left at all his fences again then I think Cyrname wins, worryingly weak in the betting though, looking like he could touch 2/1 or bigger after being 11/8 a few days ago.

Ive done a double Cyrname and Bristol De Mai but ill be having a single bet on Cyrname if he goes 2/1, thats too big imo and stick with my gut over the market weakness.

    Good afternoon horsey folks

In the 2 "big" races of the day, my shilling is on Lostintranslation, I think Cyrname will win but watching only.

At Ascot my ponderings landed on If The Cap Fits, Capeland and Stick's bumper pointer, Kid Commando.
Up at Haydock, Who Shot The Sheriff, Acey Milan ew and (too late to mention it as it's already won and I can't stand the Cyndi song but I will anyway) Thebannerkingrebel

    Cue the music ..............
