Think Poch has ambition, bruv . Seriously speaking I reckon he'll go Bayern. He's been a contender for the job since Kovac got booted and now Bayern won't have to pay a fee he probably becomes a lot more attractive than other potential candidates.
The thought of him in the opposition dug out for the final group game. I hope they hammer us and he sticks his middle finger up at Levy at full time.
Here's the official statement The Club can today announce that Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino and Antoni Jimenez have been relieved of their duties. Chairman, Daniel Levy, said: “We were extremely reluctant to make this change and it is not a decision the Board has taken lightly, nor in haste. “Regrettably domestic results at the end of last season and beginning of this season have been extremely disappointing. “It falls to the Board to make the difficult decisions - this one made more so given the many memorable moments we have had with Mauricio and his coaching staff - but we do so in the Club’s best interests. “Mauricio and his coaching staff will always be part of our history. I have the utmost admiration for the manner in which he dealt with the difficult times away from a home ground whilst we built the new stadium and for the warmth and positivity he brought to us. I should like to thank him and his coaching staff for all they have contributed. They will always be welcome here. “We have a talented squad. We need to re-energise and look to deliver a positive season for our supporters.” We shall provide an update on new coaching staff in due course.
I want Allegri tbh so you're welcome to Jose. Wouldn't say no to the latter but just think Allegri will be hungrier to prove himself in England, plus he might be able to have a word with Dybala for a possible reunion.
Surprising in some ways. Predictable in others. It’s been announced as a sacking - which suggests he isn’t lined for another job (Bayern). Why wait for 10 days after the last game before announcing this. I can’t believe there has been a week and a half of deliberating. Or has someone else been lined up in the meantime? Whoever takes the job has still got all the same issues which have bothered Poch recently - not least the restless players who want to move. Will the new manager be able to offload them in January and have money available to bring in replacements? Doubtful.
As a person who has had Jose at their club for two spells, I can say, with some certainty, that appointing him to manage Spurs would be an unmitigated disaster. He and Levy will fight like cat and dog and would not get on, AT ALL!! Plus, Jose isn't exactly known for building teams on the cheap. I honestly dont think anyone can take you further than Poch did, under the current regime. Okay maybe he might have been able to sneak the odd trophy with a bit more luck, but Jose is NOT the man for Spurs. Allegri, maybe, Howe I could see that, but Jose No way, nor Ancelotti.
Yep but hopefully they show a more ruthless streak than Poch did in his latter seasons. When Poch joined he seemed the type of guy who'd be your best mate until you pissed him off. Case in point with Kaboul, Ade and co getting binned for 'bullying' the younger members of the squad. Townsend binned for pushing a coach. Bentaleb binned for being an egotistical prick. Feel like that side of him left in the last couple years as too many got away with poor form (or on someone's case, blabbing to the media), probably because he grew a bit too close to some that he was blinded by loyalty. Ultimately half of this squad threw him under the bus, make no mistake there's a handful of players I'd have happily sacked (if possible) before Poch but we all know how the cookie crumbles in football and the buck stops with the manager.
There's a Matt Law article in today's Torygraph where he claims the players were using a WhatsApp group to talk about Poch while on international duty, the implication being they weren't saying "Come on, lads, how about we actually bother playing for him this time?" Looking back, that ****ing Burnley match may be the point where everything fell apart: as soon as Poch backed down instead of stick to his guns and get Mike "****" Dean the **** away from our games was the first time he showed weakness, and this has manifested in situations such as Eriksen's agent kicking off a campaign of silly buggers in the summer, Wanyama rejected a move to Brugge far too late for us to move him on to anyone else, and Danny Rose refusing to leave and then running to the press to slag off the club while being such a snivelling little coward that he made sure to say he wasn't criticising his manager even though by doing that he was outright defying him Looking at some of the non-performances by our players this season, which essentially split our squad into Gives A **** and Couldn't Give A ****, that certainly gave off the impression that certain players were content to shrug their way through the remainder of whoever's contract lasted shortest
Totally agree it started with that match. Kane brought back too early after injury, as I recall and Mike Dean wanting to prove he's not Spurs fan.
Yep, Poch called out Dean publicly for it and we`ve had precious little from the officials ever since.
That's the thing, he didn't: he publicly backed down over it and didn't even call out Mike "****" Dean for blatantly lying in his version of events It's not like that match was the catalyst for getting jack **** from officials, though. They were giving us jack **** for years before that
