Hamilton came into his first F1 season and finished runner up, when he should have won it. His team mate was a 2 time world champion. What do you make out as the difference between a good and great driver then?

I think you (Viva) are on a loser (argument wise), I would surrender and accept Lewis is just as good, if not better. He would be on 8 WDC if he had the advantages you claim.

Just watched the C4 after race coverage and they show a different angle of Lewis and Alex. It does look more like it was 60/40 Lewis vs Alex. Alex didn't realise Lewis was there and Lewis did make a bit of a dive up the inside but not much of a dive.
As for Lewis saying it was his fault, well I am a bit surprised at that other than he was covering his backside as it would have been a Red Bull 1st and 2nd plus Alex 1st podium.
It was a great pity that Albon didn't get the podium he deserved but then again carlos did deserve a podium with a great drive from last to 3rd.

I genuinely think Lewis just wants to have fun racing with the pressure off. He wanted to race Verstappen for the fun of it, and he wasn't losing anything important by taking the blame for the Albon tangle. It would have been a different story if he was fighting for every point.

Can't wait for the last race if he approaches it with the same mindset.

I may of provided the cat but it was alive when I supplied it...

My point is Verstappen seems to have the raw racing attitude akin to Senna.

Hamilton is more in the league of Schumacher who strived with a professional attitude to get the best and make the best.

I would say Hamilton had exactly the same raw racing attitude when he started and still does but now with a lot more racing experience. Tyre management was always a criticism against Hamilton due to his style of driving but now he is or not far off the best at doing that. Look how he attacked Vettel at the start of the race to get past him, just like Max did to get past Hamilton after the first pit stop then compare that to Bottas's failed attempts to get past LeClerc.

I responded to a post of yours but my response was to Viva not you. Apologies, I was agreeing with you in your argument against Viva re Hamilton but didn't make this clear.
Anyway, in response to this, look also at how he has followed in dirty air and still managed his tyres. You are left wondering if some of the others are just whinging. Although Lewis comes over on the radio as a whinger at times, wonder how much is real and how much is put on. All in all, he is an intelligent driver and is certainly capable of throwing out dummy comments to confuse.

You need both today. The technicality of the car requires a skill Senna did not need to develop or demonstrate in his time which is not to say he could not do so if he had been required.
Leclerc has out qualified and beaten a 4 times WDC (I wonder how Ferrari's meeting went today). Albon is still in his first season, driving remarkably well.
Verstappen is good but he is not the only one of his generation capable of winning. Therefore he is going to need the best car, which is a requirement of many of the multiple WDC. He will also need a compliant team mate. We will watch with interest whether Red Bull provide that, both aspects. Marko has form in favouring a driver, IMHO.
There are other young drivers with promise but they will need the best car too.
Whatever the generation, you need the best car to be the WDC consistently.

I hope Renault get a bit more poke out of their PU, I'd like to see Mclaren on the podium a bit more often.
