Good Morning. It's Monday 18th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Hay provides injury update Leeds journalist Phil Hay has given an indication of whether the queue for the treatment table at Thorp Arch has shortened following the International break! Jamie Shackleton (quad), Forshaw (hip), Nketiah (abdominal), Cooper (tear in groin) and Alioski (side injury) have all been missing from first team action for a number of weeks. “Cooper no, he’s got a tear in his groin so I’d expect him to be longer. Forshaw is getting closer but Nketiah will probably miss out again. Alioski remains a doubt and not sure about Shackleton–he’s had a niggle for a little while.” The ex YEP Chief football writer went on to say that if Nketiah had not been injured, the 20yo would have started four games in a row! please log in to view this image Leading bookmakers still rate Leeds favourites for Promotion The world's favourite online sports betting company (according to themselves) Bet365 still rate Leeds Utd as favourites to gain promotion to the Premier League this season. The £2.7 billion company are currently offering bets of 1/4 to see the Whites promoted come what May whether it be automatically, or via the play offs. It means that you'd have to place a bet of £4 to win £1 (plus your stake money back)! Interestingly, a better bet may be an each way bet on the leading goal scorer in the Championship. (Each way means that the odds are halved, but your selection can finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th and you'll still be paid out). Bamford is 6th favourite to be the golden boot winner this season at 25/1, (12.5/1 to finish in the top 4) and Nketiah is 50/1 (25/1 to finish in the top 4). Mitrovic is currently leading the race for top goal scorer; he has 12 goals to his name. On average, he scores one goal every 120 minutes. Should Nketiah have an extended run in the team, what are the chances he would catch up with 4th place Jarrod Bowen, currently on 9 goals (and scoring on average one goal every 160 minutes), five ahead of the on loan Gunner? Westwood rumour resurfaces Leeds have been linked (yet again) to a move for Sheffield Wednesday keeper Keiren Westwood. With the Wendies in deep water with the EFL for financial irregularities, and a ban hanging over Kiko Casilla, could there be any truth in this, or is it just lazy journalism? please log in to view this image Matteo on the mend Former Leeds legend Dominic Matteo underwent emergency surgery last Monday to remove a brain tumour. News only filtered through to the press once the 45yo former centre back who represented the Whites on 115 occasions was moved of intensive care. I'm sure we all wish him well. please log in to view this image
The best piece of the day is an interview Phil Hay got from Alex Cairns on the 5th anniversary of his brother Blake's death in that horrendous car crash in Harrogate. I remember it but forgotten about it because hes elsewhere now players who were at the club back then and including Lucy Ward re still close to the Cairns family and Leeds as a club are also still close to most of our former kids.
Morning all. Big international for us tonight. Not expecting a lot from it except a passage to qualifiers like our N. Ireland mates
Hoping for a better performance today but how many kids are still away on Int duty? Barnsley at home this lunchtime
Morning everyone i hate these pointless international breaks. Most games are against rubbing rags anyway. On a personal note me and the lady wanted different things. So im talking to two who both want to meet. One has even offered me a bottle of whisky as she aquired a stash when her mum passed on. Think im going to like her and she likes to watch football.
Morning all, I'd have a pound on Stoke if I was a betting man. I think Michael O Neil could sort them out and they could do a Villa. I think Roberts has made an impact since he's come back and he's one of ours. If I had a choice I'd want Roberts keeping Eddie out
Douglas and Pablo start for the U23s today but keep an eye on Bryce Hosannah who returns today because this kid is a baller
Leeds Utd 1-0 Barnsley half time, Edmondson Leeds should be way ahead but struggling to make the final pass all too often happens with the first team. Miles ahead of Barnsley and Hosannah is stand out as RWB, McCarron doing well and Stevens playing in the middle today with Pablo.
All over and at last a deserved win Leeds Utd 2-0 Barnsley Stevens scored using his pace to sprint between the defence and slde past the oncoming keeper.
Afternoon all.. I know it sounds like I am always knocking Phil Hay but surely his injury update means he hasn't got a clue? Cooper - "I'd expect him to be out longer" - So how long Phil? Forshaw - "Getting Closer" - No ****, he is getting closer every day but how many days? Nketiah - "I'd expect him to miss out again" - Another I'd expect statement so guessing? Alioski - "Remains a doubt" - So again no timescale? Shackleton - "Not sure" - Well Phil you're not sure on the others either so no news there then.
We usually have about five players knackered at any one time. When these return there will be no shortage of replacements in sick bay. That’s why we carry such a big squad
Hey come on Eire I'm sure there must be some new material out there. How about Radz planning to line his pockets in January by selling in-form 24 yer old?, or no money being available for transfers in January unless we sell KP, Roberts and Klich? Aren't the clubs accounts available soon to pick over and dissect or perhaps there is some scandal about Orta and the tea lady. There has got to be something to explain our lowly position and the poor football we are playing. Joking aside though I understand what you are saying about the size of the squad but isn't one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't situations. If we had 35 first team players with 20 regularly just warming the stand seats every Saturday there would be those saying we are wasting money and reducing moral in the squad. If we had 15 first team players we would have definitely too few and not able to cover for normal wear and tear etc. How many do you think we should have in the first team squad. Currently we have 22, according to the web site.
Where do you expect new material to come from. Don’t see anyone else posting anything mind blowing or original. Simply replied to ristacs post. Do we not usually have about five out injured?
