Managed to catch the second half, evidently we played better in the first 45 minutes but, overall, the result was encouraging. Nice to see Martial back to his best, less sulking, more getting involved and his presence in the side clearly lifted Rashford. Strangely, I don't think we missed James at all, his absence allowed us to play Greenwood and that front three looks like an effective strike-force, I'd like to see more of that in the PL.

Maguire was uncharacteristically off his game - did he pick up a knock in the first half? - but defensively we looked solid and the midfield looked better without Pogba. Fletcher MKll, sorry, McTominay, had another decent game.

I have been away for a break and spent some time talking to a guy who had an interesting take on the Pogba situation. His thoughts were that Pogba isn't injured, it is a blind by the club to exclude him (by mutual agreement) to allow Ole to experiment with the side in readiness for his sale in January without being hounded week in, week out by press speculation and Pogba dragging the side down each game with poor performances. His 'recovery' from injury will mean he is fully fit just in time to play one or two games before the January window opens. Interesting, we certainly don't miss him in the current side.

I take it United continue to pay his wages during this time?

    Great business that, as usual.

Sooner he leaves the better, it's an ill advised experiment that has predictably gone tits up.

I find it hard to believe this to be the case. It would be a ridiculous secrecy situation to manage. Imagine if it got out to the press. Nah!

That being said, I too hope for Pogba to be shipped out as soon as possible. Get the transfer fee, cut the ridiculous wages and give middle finger to his fkin agent. We need to let the current midfield with Fred continue to work together. Pogba will add no value to the current setup.

Why not, we'd be paying his wages anyway, he doesn't want to play for us, we don't want him to play, but both sides want to keep his value as high as possible. Alternatively we could be reading hundreds of negative column inches each day about Pogba this, Pogba that and the focus being on him rather than the quite obvious upturn in our performances since he's been injured. You watch, Woody will sell him to Juve and we'll get CR7 back <laugh>

The talent of Pogba is obvious. And despite the improvement weve shown recently we need such a talent in midfield if we are serious about top 4. The key is where his heart is. If he wants to be a United player and his heart is here then he should stay. If he is not sure or wants to go then we should sell him and get a top replacement with the transfer fee.

We should be prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. I can see how he could be crucial in Ole fast style turning defence into attack in the transition. Accurate long passes will complement the pace of the front three.

I am worried about how reliant we are becoming on Martial and James being fit. We should get top stand bys. Getting Mandzuvic or Ibrahimovic as reserves makes sense if they are available. Ibra will be free.

Agree with the above, Pogba should play in the postion occupied by Pereira when fit.

He's best player we have there, without any shadow of a doubt.

Ultimately, I would still prefer he leaves and is replaced but with McTominay and Fred playing where they are right now he should be in the team playing in front of them.

I do not question Pogba's talent, I question his head, lack of leadership and sense of entitlement. He obviously wants to move to his "dream" club. Let him go and see how easy life is in Madrid. We should never keep players that undermine the club so publicly and so many times, then try further to extort it through his greedy agent.

Look at Chelsea, has the club stopped functioning because Hazard went for his dream move? I would argue that they are much better for it. They want to leave, walk them out the door and stop the panhandling! Put the effort into fostering better environment for the players that are desperate to play for the team which we are not short of.

I agree he should leave, but that wasn't really the point.

The point I guess is that in the meantime he's best player in that position so should play.

I would love him to **** off actually.

This post is hilarious! Sums up how polarizing Pogba has become. Still not as bad as Bale though.

Oh gess!! God help us! We need to go after younger players that are hungry, in opinion. We should avoid paying ridiculous sums in salary for someone like Bale that is perhaps past his prime, done it and quite frankly has no hunger left for the game. Why else would he consider going to China?

The next stop for Bale is a Chinese golf course. His people are desperate to try and drum up alternative interest in Europe before he commits himself so they keep throwing out stories like this to the press.
