Wales can still qualify by being one of the top two in their group if they win their last 2 games and other results go their way. But can Wales can still qualify through the play-offs to be held next March? It's not about best 3rd place teams as in previous competitions, but about performance in the Nations League played last autumn. It's complicated! In league 'B' Ukraine, Sweden and Russia who are all above Wales have already qualified through their group, so they don't come into play. Bosnia & Herzegovina seem to be already in the play-offs. (4 teams from each league will fight for one place in next year's finals). Denmark and Austria are likely to qualify automatically, so it's looking good for Wales? Wales have code 'X' - Secured of play-off, may still qualify directly?
Play-offs[edit] Following the qualifying group stage, the qualifying play-offs will take place in March 2020 to determine the remaining 4 teams for the finals tournament. Unlike previous editions, the participants of the play-offs will not be decided based on results from the qualifying group stage. Instead, 16 teams will be selected based on their performance in the 2018–19 UEFA Nations League. These teams will be divided into four paths, each containing four teams, with one team from each path qualifying for the final tournament. Each league will have its own play-off path if at least four teams have not already qualified in the conventional qualifying group stage. The Nations League group winners will automatically qualify for the play-off path of their league. If a group winner has already qualified through the qualifying group stage, they will be replaced by the next best-ranked team in the same league. However, if there are not enough non-qualified teams in the same league, then the spot will go to the next best team in the overall ranking. However, group winners cannot face teams from a higher league.[1] Each play-off path will feature two single-leg semi-finals, and one single-leg final. The best-ranked team will host the fourth-ranked team, and the second-ranked team will host the third-ranked team. The host of the final will be decided by a draw, with semi-final winner 1 or 2 hosting the final. The four play-off path winners will join the 20 teams which have already qualified for UEFA Euro 2020.[10]

Bugger! Needn't have bothered! Whoever devised this system deserves the Nobel prize for Complication.
Indeed, I still don't quite understand it. I thought you supported England anyway? I don't think Wales are going to qualify automatically and on that basis I'm not sure they're good enough to win a play-off either. I hope I'm wrong, obviously, on both counts. Look what happened the last time we qualified I'm still not sure that actually happened please log in to view this image
Born and bred in England, but have lived in Wales for 30 years. England is my default 'go to' nation but I like to see Wales doing well at football. For some reason, not so at rugby. Can't explain why.
Whereabouts are you from in England and why the move? (If you don't mind me asking!) I presume you've been in the Swansea area for a lot of those 30 years, else you could have become a blueturd supporter
a) Wiltshire b) work and marriage c) yes, all 30 years around Swansea Anything else you want to know?
Posted at 20:2020:20 Post update - BBC: Bad news for Wales - Robert Bozenik has just given Slovakia the lead against Croatia. If it stays like that, then Wales will need Slovakia to drop points against Azerbaijan on Tuesday.
To think we can qualify automatically Tuesday by beating Hungary is mental, as it seemed it was all lost a few games back. Come on Wales, one-off game...
Yes... suddenly it's all turned around and it's at home. Going to be a cracking atmosphere! I think we'll do it after seeing the way we played yesterday
Come on Wales because you all supported England in the rugby World Cup final, I am supporting Wales tonight
