Top scorers with 10 points each, mustyfrog, Spurlock*. mustyfrog goes top with a 4 point lead from former leader paultheplug. Now yet another international break which is really disrupting to the season IMO and not just us the whole league. 4 failed to predict. West Ham away next. I was going to put a loss down...but I’m not quite sure now Will be back on Saturday morning to confirm
Typical! Levy decides to say toodle-oo to Mauricio, just when I’ve spent hours working on a song about Eriksen! In a hurry, I had to change tack. Hunted for a song to say what I wanted to say – and then hit upon this classic, which is exactly the same age as me! 1938! What a year! The link is to the recording by Greta Keller (in 1938, I believe). Of course, Bob Hope decided to colonise the song, and re-lyric it regularly. But I love the tone of this vintage version. A trace of a tear in my eye as I say, “Cheerio, Mauricio!”…….. Let’s hammer the Hammers, as a fitting farewell gift! Thanks for the Pochery Thanks for the memory Of comments wise but terse, Smiles if things got worse, And chuckles When reporters told A lie that made fans curse - How novel that was! Thanks for the memory Of shaping how we played, Changes that you made: We’d never met The wingback threat That helped us make the grade! How novel that was! The project you ran was exciting - Now kicked out because of in-fighting?! I wonder if Dan’s done the right thing! Oh, well, that's life, I guess - But what a mess! Thanks for the memory Of magic that you made, Your spell will never fade! [That CL losing Final Was something we forgave,] Thank you so much. Thanks for the memory Of beating Real Madrid, And other wins we did - Our winning run And - number one! - Delighting all us “yids”: Oh how brilliant that was! Thanks for the memory Of sometimes scoring four, And trying still for more; And knocking out Man City When they said We couldn’t score! We’ve said goodbye to your football, And now we might play boring keep-ball, But we are intelligent people, No tears, no fuss, Hooray for us. [Strictly entre nous, Feller, how are you? And how are all Those little dreams That never quite came true?] Awfully glad we had you, Cheerio and toodle-oo Thank you, Thank you so much. Prediction: West Ham 2 Spurs 3 Scorers: Kane, Moura, Alli Cheers, Spurf!
A lovely tribute Audrey, I hope somehow he may see it. Lovely old song too, Sigh----for the old days, before premier league and all the money grubbing, winning is everything however dire the footie. I prefered winning our trophies organically, back in the day, without sackings every five minutes. I'm of for a cup of tea or something!
