Missed around 25 home games since 1984.
Seen us lose 8 times at Wembley.
Been to over 60 away grounds, most of multiple occasions.
Yet not once, not ****ing once, have I thought about shares and finance.
You know why...cos I am a Safc fan not a sad internet ****.

Support the ****ing club you ****s. It is far bigger than a semantic point on the net.

I agree really it was interesting for a bit but it's got bugger all to do with being a Sunderland fan.

Mine was 1969, spent whole game running up and down the roker, with my brother necking on with their lass instead of looking after me, nil nil draw, boring as ****, but loved it so much.

Didn’t miss a home game from 75/76 season til probably 1989 when kids got in the way.

And, just like the op, couldn’t give two flying ****s about who owns what shares, and whatever loans the ****ers have got, support the ****ing team, get off t’internet and get excited or angry at football, not at who owns the club or who doesn’t, just remember the first times you went it’s all about that feeling.

1st game 1972, and if we were balanced on a financial knife edge, repeatedly reported as being one decision away from bankruptcy, but doing ok on the pitch, I'd be happy.
99% of talk would be about the team.
And probs 1% about when to queue at h/t.

First game was November 1962. My dad and uncle took my cousin and me to the **** tip to witness a tame 1-1 draw. You didn't need tickets and there was no fighting. Unfortunately, on the way back, my cousin 'followed through' into his keks, stunk out the train and bus so bad we had to get off at the Plaza and walk the rest of the way to Nookside. It been in my blood since - SAFC not the smell of crap.

Yeah it would be around that time for me...my uncle had played on and off for Gateshead but he had a bubble car and he would take me to Roker and St James now and again... who I saw I forget, but Rotherham springs to mind cannot remember where.

My first game was either 76 or 77, against Mansfield. The main memory I have is of a guy waving a brush about in the air. The guy was asked by plod what the brush was for. He replied that it was to brush the fairies away. Not sure to this day whether or not he meant us or Mansfield. LOL.

My first Sunlan game was the 1973 League Cup replay against Derby on a Monday night, drew 1-1 and the replay was at Roker 2 days later and we won 3-0, I wasn't at that game though.
My first 3 games were all cup games.
First game was South Shields v Notts County in the second round proper of the 1971 FA Cup we lost 3-1, it seemed all the town was there mainly cos Tony Hateley played for County. For those that don't know him he used to be play for Villa, Liverpool and Chelsea and was the Father of Mark Hateley who went on to play for England.
Second game I was taken to Sid James in 1973 by an uncle who went to both Sunlan and Mags games. He took me and my brother to see the FA Cup fourth round tie Mags v Luton Town, who were in the second division at the time, and the Skunks lost 0-2.
I went to a few games at Roker in 1974 with school mates and got hooked.

1973 v reading in the cup, we drew 1-1, but won the replay and I’ve always wondered how we did that season in the cup?

It was either 0-0 against Bradford or 1-0 win against Palace mid 80's. Without my parents it was a league cup game against Huddersfield. My only time in the Roker End. Losing 3-0 we brought it back to 3-2 to give ourselves a chance in the second leg. Early 90's. I thought it was ****ing great.

    74/75 season for me.
@Smug in Boots is Blyth on about the Spurs game when they were chased into the sea and Sammy having the brush. This isn’t my account of it mind as I was only about 9 year old, I read it on PF.
