Aye if we get a RB Watmore, a big Watmore for upfront and one or two Watmore's to play AM or on the wing that'd do me. We desperately need some energy in the side.

The thought of a forward with pace and finishing makes my mouth water.

It's a good idea but it's illegal to clone gingers.

I think we probably need strength out of all those. Parkinson seems to like us getting down the wings, but every time we cross there's no one who can win a header (and no one making good enough movement for a low driven ball in). Currently the nearest we've got is Wyke, who isn't actually all that strong and certainly isn't dominant in the air. A better version of him who can score from crosses would be mint. Plus the strength might actually let the ball stick up front rather than aimless punts leading to defenders easily winning it and the opponents getting possession. Imagine someone actually making space, chesting the ball down to the likes of McGeady, Power or Maguire, all of whom have a canny shot on them, or on the end of a cross from Watmore, Gooch or Hume. A big battering ram type. Basically I want Kevin Kyle back, sad that even that is a lofty ambition! At his peak he'd have torn this league a new arsehole and would be mint in this side

I can see that aye it'd certainly be a useful addition if we did get someone like that. My only reservations are that Wyke is supposed to be like that and he's been useless although that says more about him than anything else. Also that it assumes we're going to be playing well enough to be getting crosses in and we're a bit hit and miss with that.

My thinking was that in the likely event we're having another mare and can barely string two passes together the ball over the top is always a dangerous one with a fast striker.

No you're right, all fair points. My other issue with pace up front is that in this league most teams sit back against us so there isn't always loads of space for a quick player to exploit. Genuinely think someone who actually does what Wyke was meant to would be really useful, and it might even get goals out of the likes of McNulty (or maybe even Grigg) if he could knock the ball down for them. Currently they don't get many chances. But aye, I can see the benefits of having a striker who is actually rapid! Pace and strength, it's what our recruitment has really been lacking and it's a pain in the arse because, as long as you don't want both, there's plenty in this league who would give you one or the other!

You are right, a big strong bully upfront would be a very useful addition, I can think of several games where we've put in a boat load of crosses but our strikers are always hiding behind a defender. Wyke tries but he's just not cut out for it too slow physically and mentally.
