Good Morning. Its Thursday 14th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Bad day at the office for the U23's Leeds U23 endured a miserable night against Derby, getting thumped 7-1 at Loughborough University Stadium last night. It would be fair to say that Leeds were without the likes of Meslier, Temenuzhkov, Bogusz, Kennah and McCalmont, all of which would have normally played a part in proceedings; but it is nevertheless extremely disappointing to see the Whites getting hammered by a team like Derby. Over the last couple of seasons we have seen the hierarchy invest heavily in the youngsters, many of whom were on display last night. Was it a bad day at the office, or are our youngsters not as good as we thought they were? Are the Leeds Utd fledglings demoralised due to their lack of opportunity in stepping up to the first team. please log in to view this image Whelan - White heading for a top Champions League Club Noel Whelan claims that Ben White is not far away from a Senior England Debut, and for his price tag to rise to 50m “This kid is going places,” “He is going to be an England international and is heading for a top club, a Champions League club. There’s no doubt he’s good enough. “Right now, he’s on a par with John Stones, if not better than him. Ben White is much younger, has room for improvement and has a massive career ahead of him. “I hope Leeds can win promotion to the Premier League and we can buy him but I’m worried because I know how good this kid can be. “I’m not surprised he’s being linked with Liverpool and Man United. This kid could play in any team. He’s heading for a £50million move in the next year or two.” please log in to view this image Best ground grub How does the food compare at other clubs? Morning all. Watched only some of the u23's last night and best thing I can come up with is no comment. Agree on the Ben White thing. Hope we can get remainder of season with him. That'd be a great boost towards a promotion push
Good Morning to Matt and co from a damp Bardsey What a sorry scoreline but could this be a wake up call we are not as good as we thought we were A great pity we didn't have a buyout clause with Ben White now we will never afford him
Leeds United fans can relax - 'no chance' Brighton will recall Ben White in the January transfer window There is 'no chance at all' that Leeds United's star loanee Ben White will return to his parent club Brighton in January. By xbpod The centre-half has made himself an instant favourite at Elland Road thanks to his cool, calm, collected style of play. Despite never having played in the Championship previously, the 22-year-old has slotted straight into Marcelo Bielsa's defence, forming a solid partnership with Liam Cooper and becoming key to the Leeds United style of play. His ability on the ball has helped to pass the ball out from the back, switch play diagonally to the flanks or go direct to centre forward Patrick Bamford with unerring accuracy and when a pass isn't on, White has taken it upon himself to run the ball through the middle. Defensively the youngster has barely put a foot wrong and is one of a great number of Bielsa's players who deserve credit for their miserly goals against column - the Whites have conceded only nine times in 16 league games. The consistency with which he has performed is, according to Bielsa, difficult to achieve and it has led to fears among the Leeds faithful that Brighton could seek to recall their defender in January and deal a blow to United's promotion hopes. Premier League giants like Liverpool have already been linked with big-money moves for White, adding to Leeds fans' concerns. Players on season-long loans can be recalled by their parent club in the January transfer window. but only if the two clubs have agreed a recall clause in advance. Ben White has been ever-present for Leeds United in the Championship (Pic: PA) Sources have told the YEP that the only way Brighton could have brought him back to the AMEX Stadium was if he failed to play a certain percentage of Leeds' games. To date, White has played every single minute of Leeds' 16 Championship matches, started the EFL Cup game at Salford and came off the bench at half-time against Stoke City in the same competition, meaning he has missed just 45 minutes of action all season. The certainty that he will remain central to Bielsa's plans will leave Brighton with no recourse to remove him from Elland Road in January and there were no other recall options inserted in the deal that took him to Leeds. A source said: "There is no chance at all of a recall, which is good news for Leeds fans." Brighton themselves are 'delighted' with the progress White is making in his third loan stint. Previous spells at Newport County in League Two and at Peterborough United in League One were deemed a success, before his latest step up in competition. The Seagulls' boss Graham Potter said: "The feedback has been really positive and that's good for everybody. He was a player that was after first team football and he's a player that has taken steps to improve and that's brilliant for him. He is still our player and we are happy that he is having a good experience and that he's getting better. We are delighted." White recently responded to the rave reviews that have flooded his way from his Leeds team-mates, pundits and fans, insisting he would remain focused on the job of helping his loan club to achieve their 2019/20 goal. "People keep saying how well I’m doing but I know I have to keep my head down and continue working hard for the team to make sure we get the results we need to achieve our aim at the end of the season," he said.
Evening all... Last season our U23s were fantastic and they were all released or sold, obviously not deemed good enough to step up. So you’d assume this seasons crop are even further away
McCalmont scored a screamer tonight for NI and now a first team squad player. Jack Clarke away with England U20s, Bigusz away with Poland, Meslier away with France, Kun Bulgaria and theres more so a weakened side last night. Also the U23s is this season due to some of last seasons players stepping up have been replaced by some of last seasons U18s and even new kids like McKinstry and McCarron babies learning a job. Nobody more depressed as me but the U23s needs turning over every 2 years so that up and coming kids replace those who are deemed not good enough to be first teamers. So some are sold and some released. Hugo Diaz was last seasons skipper and one of the best players in a team that won the lot, but he was at an age where he needed to get his career going somwe sold him to aSpanish club as he wasn't deemed good enough to break through here? Like Lewie Coyle will never play for us or like a few more we released or sold. Aapo Halme wanted first team now somwe sold him. There is a shed load of talent in the new U23s it just needs moulding and next season you will see the results. Edmondson by the way will go out on loan shortly to see if he can step up
These average player marks seem fairly accurate to me although Roberts being near the top is an anomaly due to only playing a couple of times. White, Kiko and Phillips top 3 https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co...far-season-who-has-shone-and-struggled-970586
KP and Ben top two, can’t argue with that, they’re easily on course for which one is player of the season. I’m hoping that changes as we near the second half, both are defensive players, attackers naturally stand out more so it shows how toothless we’ve been in front of goal
