I see Oxford game is postponed. This still leaves us with 5 matches over the next 14 days, madness! And I see a backlog of matches and injuries hitting us again.

I've never been liked squad rotation or playing weakened teams in the FA cup, however I do feel Lambert is fully justified in doing so.

Looking at the starting line up at the weekend, I would imagine if we would have seen that team sheet at the end of last season we would have thought it was a team made up of mainly first team players. Due to injury, match fitness and form of other players it wasn't.

I still think our squad is very fragile, we're a couple of major injuries away from being in a very difficult situation. So whilst Lambert proclaims to have made a decision this season to rotate I don't think he has a lot of choice. Our squad has been decimated by injuries the past few years, and we've had so many players who haven't played many games in the past couple of years or didn't have a pre-season. So in my mind Lambert is managing our squad to prevent further injuries at the same time as trying to build up the match fitness of players who could be key as we get further into the season or have to step in due to an injury in the first team.

Again whilst Lambert has proclaimed a rotation policy, actually when looking at it when fully fit about 9 of the first 11 would probably be deemed as regulars.

As i have said I would usually he frustrated by this approach but I just don't so far this season think our squad has the durability for us to risk getting an injury to a key player.

Every club has key players. Vardy at Leicester, Salah at Liverpool, Messi at Barcelona.

There’s always a danger of injuries and there will always be players that you need in the side to win games. The difference between our club and those has been desire. Lambert has improved the situation but we still have a long way to go.

I don't have much of an issue with squad rotation, as we are going to be playing a lot of games with the additional EFL Trophy commitments. I'm sure Lambert wants to make an informed decision about what players to retain and move on next summer. My most pressing concern about the club right now is our willingness to continue delaying first-team matches during international breaks. This is inevitably going to cause a backlog of fixtures, over an already packed Christmas schedule, and will likely exacerbate the potential for injuries and fitness concerns to first team players. The club's physiotherapy team, with the greatest respect, have consistently struggled to monitor and maintain the overall fitness of the squad. This observation is based on a succession of injuries, as well as the worrying stories that have emerged about how we deal with injuries to youth players. A story the club have yet to actually come out, strongly refute, and put in a legal challenge (despite saying they would do).

For the FA Cup match against Lincoln, Lambert supposedly understands the supporters' general desire to see an actual victory in an FA Cup round. Last Saturday's game provided us with a brilliant opportunity to do that with a home tie and a subsequent two-week break from first team football. I'm not really sure what we gained by leaving out the likes of Norwood and Wolfenden, when what we've done is consigned ourselves to another football match. It just smacks of unnecessary bad fixture management.

I understand squad rotation - we're all ready through the group stage in the Trophy, for example - but in this case there was no serious game for a couple of weeks after the Lincoln fixture and one or two players may have been fatigued but as you say - how much rest does Woolfy really need at the moment? It's a lack of respect for the Cup tournaments. Evans should be setting us a target of a Quarter Final every season in the two major Cup competitions with a squad bonus for achieving it. All that kind of stuff comes directly from the top.

I know people don,t like the past but the 80/81 season we played 60+ games that season. all tough, competitive & meaning something. Sir Bobby didn't think about the what ifs, he just wanted the next game won. If you are playing then the training sessions are not as intense. we never turned up expecting to see a second string team on the pitch. Just find it all to over thought.

Robson could get players to run through brick walls for him regardless of the long term effect it had on their fitness.I always wonder if Beattie’s career could have lasted longer if his fitness had been managed better.(I’m aware it’s not a popular view to question any of SBR’s methods but always felt he acted a bit selfishly in this respect)

There was not the sport science and analysis tools in those days and there were never 30 or 40 players in a squad or even a choice of substitute in a match. Players would drink like fishes and some would even smoke like chimneys. I’m sure our players were in better shape than most.

I am pretty sure every club the length & breadth of the country were doing the same things. I agree that players were given injections etc to get them through games, but what I was trying to say *( not very well) was that these players should be playing week in week out. If they are injured then I don,t think they would be given a pick me up & kicked out on to the pitch for the next game.

My mum can recount a story of Big Al Himself having a drag on someone's fag at the side of the west stand.

Ah, right so we now have 3 games in 7 days. Interesting to see what teams PL puts out. Both L1 games are tough, if Wycombe win, they will stay top and keep us off our accustomed perch!

As others say, one, two injuries to key players, and our season might begin to look different. But its the same for every club, but we do have worrying history of long term injuries.

Ever the optmist. So, beat Lincoln 1-2, beat Blackpl 1-0, draw Wycombe, 1-1, stay top. Tho WWs will of course be top if they win their next match.
