Ensuring that everyone in England and Wales was within 30 miles of an electric vehicle charging point, by spending £500m on expanding the network.

One of the points made by Johnson in his speech today. I live in the middle of nowhere and already there is one just over 1 mile away, The next one along my route to town is 5 miles away. When I get to the supermarket 15 miles away there are more. All free to use and the government has really gone to town on getting them into all the small villages as well as towns. This program has been driven by the government for about three years, so it is a case of catch up for Johnson. Last time I looked in the UK at a service station on the motorway, the company that had installed it wanted £10 for a charge.

Amazing what can be done when your government spends loads of borrowed money to appease the yellow vests.

If you want to have a successful business manufacturing and selling electric cars, you need to have the means to charge them. While you wait for the points to be installed sales of these cars will only take off slowly. Putting out to private companies the installation of the points will not be a good investment for the companies if they do not have sufficient cars in need of charging, so they will be in no rush to install them. Chicken and egg situation. Sometimes government needs to follow up on a policy and make it work, but what is being proposed is a half hearted attempt to look as if they will do something, but the ambition is quite pathetic. I am sure you would be happy to travel to Watford or Aylesbury just to charge up your car.

So you will be trading in your 20 year old polluter for a shiny new electric one very soon?

A new poll today has shown the Conservative party has more support among working class voters than the upper classes.
This indicates the appeal of Boris's new government as a one nation government.

I think that even the most die hard Tory would have to admit that Johnson had a disaster of a day yesterday. Meets the common people in Yorkshire who tell him to get out of the county, then sits down with some and is evasive to even the most simple questions. They could see that he was not being truthful, so how does he get away with it when the local journalists want to question him? Simple, he refuses to give them interviews. He then goes on to give his major speech in front of a near empty workshop, with row upon row of empty chairs. He chose to go an electric vehicle manufacturer on the day that the one they had been boasting about said that with Brexit they couldn't carry out their plans for the UK and would build the factory in Germany. Probably wish he hadn't got out of bed, but then he may have thought it was all a great success. Talking of car crash interviews, has anyone seen Moggy since he had his disaster and was forced to apologize. I suspect he has been grounded

I have not looked back but I don't recall the other cartoons posted by anyone else were inappropriate. Whilst they might lighten the mood perhaps cartoons should not be on this thread at all, but on the joke thread, so in a way I agree with you.

Yes I did, and agree with you.
I have made my point, perhaps offensive was the wrong word, better to use inappropriate on a serious thread like this.
I will leave it up to the Mods to decide what is appropriate or not for now.
