I find this offensive and should have been removed by the mods, but if it is a joke then it is on the wrong thread.

The old problem arises again, what is offensive to one is not to another. I have the swearing filter on, but it doesn't remove bad language on reposted pictures. Sometimes what I might not like remains because I know that my taste is not the universal one, so any action has to be reactive. I do not have the power to move items from one thread to another.

I have to break ranks a bit here Frenchie. I understand why Scully is offended by this because it could be taken as a personal insult ie. 'I am a Tory therefore I am also a +++++++'. Whilst I detest many aspects of their politics, it is the ideas I object to and not them - and every party has plonkers amongst their number, without exception. I also object to the word itself and consider it far worse than many, so called, fouler insults - because a person who didn't know who their father was can hardly be blamed for being in that situation, and to turn it into an insult is sick.

At the start of this thread many hoped that it would well mannered and polite and you sensibly laid down a few ground rules. Some posts have pushed these boundaries a bit but by and large most comments have been acceptable.
However I do not see how the recent joke put up passes some of the ground rules above.

I am not offended by the joke personally (although as I said I find it offensive on this thread) and if it had been on the joke thread I would have found it funny, after all if we can't poke a bit of fun at each others views, activities etc then it is a sad thing.

I would not have posted it myself let me say, but that is maybe because I do not use that sort of language myself, even when I am in a football crowd and it is going on all around me. The very fact that I know some people look at it differently does not give me the right to impose my standards on them. At the time it was posted it attracted two likes, plus the original posting. It is only just now that it has been questioned. Yes it would probably be better placed with the jokes, but I do not have the tools to do that

I find it funny that you chose to object to that one, and not the cartoons posted by SH.

If the language used was coarser I wouldn't have posted it on this forum. I just thought it was funny...Also didn't want to spread political stuff all over the board.

I thought the latest cartoon I posted today was extremely well drawn and poked fun at every political party including the Tories with their magic money tree. I think your 'joke' crossed the line, just nasty.

It's just a reworking of an ancient joke. There's lots of things posted that are eminently distasteful but offence is only taken and none of us have the right not to be offended. Family (not so) secret: I am actually a bastard in the proper sense of the word (as opposed to being a proper bastard in a sense of the word <laugh> ).... and you're all well versed in my political leanings <whistle>

The past few comments highlight the problem that any person trying to create a bit of order on a forum faces. Different views on what some find offensive that others do not. I see comments from moderators on other boards when they seek to have a poster banned, sometimes I agree that it is called for, while other times not. There used to be a very strict moderating system in place when we were on the old BBC606 site, and people were constantly moaning that it was too restrictive. Some sites employ auto systems where it deletes posts by use of a single word. So far on this thread I think most have behaved rather well within the guidelines I suggested at the beginning, We obviously disagree on what is the biggest change in the UK since WWII, but nearly all posts have kept to the point, and most of the silly headlines from the biased papers have disappeared. That I think is a sign that we have all tried to be adults, but I have to take account of just where people come from. Just what is the most important thing in this election? It should be about where the whole country it being led, and it is not a Presidential election. It is too easy to say that one leader is a serial liar, and the other one is a Commie. A cheeky chappie or a chappie with splinters in his cheeks? I know full well that if I please some, I will be accused of bias, and if I please others that I will be equally accused of bias. All I can do is steer my middle way and think about each post as it appears.

Actually if you had posted it, it would not have been removed. Stop trying to make out that because you are in a minority everyone is against you. Quite silly.

I just think, try as you might, you fail to be impartial. You are very slow on any abuse dished out to Tories or Brexiteers, this was a good example.

Let me assure you SH that if it had not been for this moderator, and the ones before me, you would have gone from this forum long ago. A long time before anything political was being discussed you were being described by one of your friends as a troll who should be ignored. You have not be ignored, but you need to cut out the playground cry of always being picked on.

Johnson signed the agreement with the EU creating a permanent hard border between NI and rest of UK.

But to the British electorate, he insists that there won't be any border on the Irish Sea.

This means that either he is lying to the British people or planning to renege on the agreement.

As a supporter SH which is it?

I don't feel picked on at all. I just agree with W-Y that you lack proper skills to be a moderator.
