That fan campaign begging us not to sell him in the summer is the gift that keeps on giving, isn't it?
I have no idea why spurs fans have been so loyal to Rose. Hossan Ghally threw a shirt on the floor in frustration at being subbed off after being subbed on and was vilified by fans even though he gave his all everytime he played. Rose whined about underpaid when he was being paid £65,000 per week BEFORE bonuses, sponsorships and image rights from a contrst he was happy to sign just 8 months previously. He did this in the **** paper that treated all football fans with utter contempt when they deliberately lied about Hillsborough. Not only that he then slagged off his teams mstes complaining that we should be signing better players and does this 2 days before the season starts...yet fans still chant his name snd support him. I never boo players at games but this love in with Rose makes no sense to me. People slated Dier on Saturday snd Winks at the Watford game yet none of this is directed at Rose...the same csn be said of Trippier, Aurier and Sissoko back in the day. Rose is a twat and should be sold or left to rot. I said it when he gave that interview and nothing I have hesrd the dick say has changed my view. He is s whiney, self centred prick who treats us with the contempt he deserves.
So on a good bit of transfer news for a change, Dayot Upamecano's name is being linked, Ziyech's name has again also popped up.
Oh! I was a Dusty fan from the time I saw her mess up a song with The Springfields. She was laughing at herself, which won me over... and I bought all her records after that! Such a sincere singer.
It depends on how you measure success. It has raised quite a lot of money in transfer fees and given us four members of the current squad worth about £200m between them. So it has probably made us nearly £300m of value over the last 5 years. I don't know what it costs but I'd hazard a guess that it is under £10m per season.
It produced plenty of players, including one of the best in the game at the moment and a bunch that were sold on for substantial fees. Not sure about the direction it's gone in over the last couple of years, but that may be to do with the main squad, rather than the academy.
I'd say our academy has been successful but our management of players once they're at a certain age has been dreadful in the past few years. We've wasted Walker-Peters so badly to the point we'll likely sell him in either January or the summer. He'll be 23 by the end of the season and is still at the level of an 18-19 year old because we've failed to give him adequate game time here in the three seasons he's been a first teamer nor have we allowed him to develop elsewhere on loan. Same applies to Skipp and Tanganga at the moment who are in their second and first seasons respectively. We're wasting players with great potential and it's really disappointing, we're also seemingly losing good prospects for peanuts too. I think we need to try and go back to getting agreements/ partnerships with lower league sides. We used to send multiple players to Yeovil, Swindon and Orient a few years back and although most of these players had loans elsewhere, I think in general they really benefited from these ones where they joined a team with at least one or two of their fellow academy team mates. Most eventually came back and played for the first team in some capacity - Kane, Mason, Townsend, Carroll and Pritchard. Despite only Kane still remaining, Townsend and Mason became pivotal for us in spells, Carroll had his moments and Pritchard featured once or twice before injuries curtailed his breakthrough season. Ultimately, because these players had made names for themselves both in the Football League and at Spurs, we fetched nice fees when selling them; £12m for Townsend, £13m for Mason, £8m for Pritchard and £5m for Carroll. Which for me showed how successful the academy can be because if they didn't make it here, we got a good fee when selling. Nowadays they're barely making it and we're fetching peanuts.
Rose is a twat but he has poches full backing. Poch gets to see all the players in training, how they are doing and if poch wants to keep him and poch wants to play him then you should all back rose because poch knows best and is the best man for the job
Tbh I have no idea why Rose gets picked...he's been **** for at least a year yet he always plays as he does for England...complete mystery to me
It's definitely been weird with Rose. Up for sale in the summer, left at home during a pre-season tour, yet has started 9 of 12 in the Prem. Davies had surgery in pre-season but was seemingly fit from about match day 2. So why he's not started more is anybody's guess. Neither LB has been great this season but considering one signed a new five year deal and the other is wanted out, it looks really silly when looking at whose played the most.
Of course you don't rcl. Poch does though he's got a great reputation as a top coach (football expert) and he sees them everyday whereas you are just a commoner so pipe down your rose hate else we will consign you to the lunatic fringe
To be honest, after Ben Chilwell, England's ****ed at LB: Rose, Shaw, Bertrand, Creswell.... The only hope is that Sess is played LB and begins to shine to give Chilwell some competition.
Lloyd Kelly and Reece James are the upcoming ones, I think. Does seem rather sparse though, doesn't it?
