Interesting post match interview with Leadbitter, straight away talking about sticking together and that we "can't have other groups". Trouble in the dressing room perhaps? https://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2019/november/scunthorpe-united/leadbitter-post-scunthorpe
Aye, but the manner of losing last night is a definite insult to the loyal fans who went to the match.
From the comments about needing to stick together from the top to bottom and groups not being acceptable, I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say that Parkinson has been bollocking them and certain players who think they know better or don't care aren't taking it on board. If Leadbitter is privy to dissent behind the manager's back as club captain he should do something about it. We don't want to wait months for Parkinson to figure out who the bad eggs are if that is what's going on.
If they can't take a bollocking they need to be bombed out in January and out of the team for the next game. We all thought the piss taking party stopped when SD and CM came in. Perhaps not.
Aye it needs sorting out nothing worse than being saddled with toxic players when you're going through a bad patch. Parkinson will at least be aware of who isn't putting the effort in on the pitch. Seems like everyone in the cup games but some will be the worst offenders and they'll need binning.
If Gillingham knock us out of the cup in the replay and Coventry get an early goal the atmosphere will be horrific. Seen it so many times before.
????? My full backs would be CMcL and DeB until the window opens, and two full backs should be sourced, read my previous posts if you think I am making this up, I've been saying all along that Hume and O/9 should only be used further forward. Prefered team playing 4/4/1/1 Subs from home and away Burge sub JMcL . CMcL / Willis / Lynch. / DeB (subs O/9 / Ozzy. / Flan. / Hume. ) until two new full backs arrive O/9 / Power / Dobson / Hume subs from Gooch Watmore. / Mumba. Leadbitter. Robson. / Gooch Embleton. McGeedy subs Maguire or O/9 if required Bring in another if and when we can afford better McNulty (subs Grigg or Wyke ) get shot of these 2 and replace with better asp. The virtue of O/9 can not be overstated as he can for me play in all 3 positions if required but my preference would be out wide, as with Hume he has the engine and skill to defend as well as attack, neither Gooch or McGeedy do this effectively and both hinder movement imo., but Gooch can also cover left or right side of midfield and is a very valuable player in the squad and unlucky to be only used as cover. But with O/9 being such an asset as cover Gooch would get a lot of starts in this set up. And could see him becoming first choice if he takes his chance at the expense of McGeedy if he does not improve on recent displays. This is my personnel view only, a few of the choices are I admit arbitrary, depending on current form, but that aside I cant see a better solution, and results are proving that neither can Ross or PP.
I have to confess 2nd year in turd division (big doubts that we will get promoted this season).. getting harder to support them..this after nearly 60 years a fan! Very poor performance last night, yes referee was dreadful... but we were woeful Only silver lining we are out of the tinpot cup..
Didn't watch it last night and can't say Im particularly bothered about the checkacrap trophy. HOWEVER, what is galling is that we fielded arguably one of our strongest teams against lower division opposition. Irrespective of the nature of the competition, we should still have had enough to beat Scunthorpe. Prognosis not good...
Leadbitter maybe venting that he told parky the dressing room situation when parky arrived, and nowt's been sorted. Anyhow, big sam was my first pick, he would have cost a wedge, but we would be in the fizzy pop next year.ktf. ftm.
Sam said he wouldn't come back so a "wedge" would've been way more money than the club have. The "dressing room situation" I'd be interested to know what is happening. I can;t imaghine Parkinson has juts sat by and allowed it to fester. As some say, sounds like we have those who can't take a bollocking! Can;t handle having things laid out in English for them. Looking at on pitch body language I'd put McGeady and Grigg in among those but maybe I'm reading more into that from what I see.
Grigg has never looked interested from day one and McGeady has gone from being in the top three players in our league last season to a liability this, don't understand it at all. Take those two out of a starting eleven and were playing with nine men at kick off time. No wonder we're not competing at the moment.
Nacho, I really don’t get it. How in the hell is it that we have a brilliantly supported team, with a fantastic history that has, in the last few years descended to this. Can those up the chain not see the potential, can those in the dressing room not understand the passion and the the meaning of the shirt they wear when they play? I just know in my heart that this would not have happened if Phillips had been involved, I also feel that big Sam would have injected a sense of belief in both the team and the fans. It wasn’t to be and we have what we have. The owners, the manager and the players better start realising that we are demanding as well as loyal. We fekin demand total commitment every time the team go onto the pitch. They are paid well, treated well and have superb facilities. Last night was a watershed, now let’s move on and let’s see some fekin spirit. It’s not rocket science, it’s football, so they should start thinking football and outwitting the opposition.....rather than the other way around FFS.... We angrily KTF
You should give the next team talk. I wonder if you might be right about Phillips...maybe this was the right time for him and we chickened out. It's not rocket science like you say and his attacking philosophy combined with his popularity might have been the right mix. I will say that Parkinson doesn't seem the type to suffer fools and he's got time before the next league games to sort backstage issues out. If we show no improvement in our next game it's going to be grim. I would have loved Sam back I think he's a top manager but I really don't think he'd fancy either league one or managing a club on a virtually non existent budget.
Just plucked up the courage to watch the "highlights"! None of them were of our play after Dunc put his chip on the roof of the net. We were absolutely wide open in the middle of the park when they launched it from the back and their front lads just dropped off to pick up the ball under no pressure. From the clips their No 30 looked lively and Luke got caught up field when he had to chase back and gave away the penalty. Don't like to pick at a scab that's starting to dry off but PP has some work to do on the training pitch in the next week. I fear that there's a bit more needed than just going 442. PS Still waiting to hear from Black cat Forever whether it was true that Leadbitter told PP there was trouble at t' dressing room
The recruitment will be critical and needs to be a lot better planned and executed than it has to date
