He did speak out against Dean and it did him or us no good whatsoever.

No, he didn't. He confronted him on the pitch, then backed down in the post-match interviews and got banned anyway.
He should've stuck to his guns, rightfully slagged him off, told us what Dean said that angered him and got the same treatment.
He just looked weak and allowed the club to get steamrolled by a **** official, who continues to **** us over now.

I don't think he would get anywhere if he had stuck to his guns just a bigger fine or ban. You can see with VAR they never go against the ref however wrong he is and in a way it is the only thing to do.

It's the only thing that they respond to, unfortunately.
I wouldn't suggest it otherwise, as I'd prefer to see officials treated with respect. Dean's behaviour doesn't warrant any.

We should also have protested the ban, as Dean lied about what happened.
He claimed that the manager, "aggressively pointed his finger just a few inches from my face again saying 'you know what you are".
Didn't happen. He literally had his hands behind his back and repeatedly said, "You know what you said." Perez was the one waving his finger.

I'd suggest that Dean's still pissed because we beat his beloved Tranmere 7-0, but this has been going on for years.
The whole Mike Dean's a Spurs fan thing started because he didn't give us decisions, which lead to us scoring goals, bizarrely.

Unfortunately, in all aspects of life, the more that you moan and the louder and more unpleasant you are, the more likely you are to get your own way. Sir Ferguson acted like a complete **** and by the end of his time, he could do and say whatever he wanted with minimal resistance or sanction.

I'm all for civility and being reasonable but sometimes you have to be blunt, tell the truth and shame the devil. This was one of those occasions.

I am a reasonable person and am more than willing to have a bit of give and take with my bosses.
I currently give up 15 mins a day off my lunch hour 4 days a week...my head and deputy gave me a paid day off to tske my teenbeast to s hospitsl appt and have given me paid time off on the anniversary of my son's death.

However in my previous school they illegally deducted a day's pay when I applied for compassionate leave when my daughter was ill...she was too young to be st home on her own at the time...
I kicked off big time, got the union involved and it was msde clear thst the head would be nsmed in the legsl action the union threatened.
Got my money bsck snd refused to work s second over my contracted hours after that or to swap duties etc. They steered well clear of ****ing with me after that...sometimes treating s twat like a twat is the only option!

I am pleased to hear that RCL but it's not the norm is it. Following Thatcher, employment laws were decimated along with much of the social care. I am all for kicking off against bosses that exploit. Some of these things are better in Scotland but much is dictated by Westminster. The Scottish Government spends lots of time and money trying to mitigate the effects of Westminster austerity.

I was originally talking about Pochettino keeping quite about officials and that's very different of course. I am not sure if making a noise about his grievances would work the FA is not a democratic caring body and they can make life difficult for managers who 'step out of line' even Fergusson was subject to them once he criticised refs.

Sir Alex Ferguson, the Manchester United manager, will call for referees to be subjected to more stringent fitness targets when he attends a personal hearing on Thursday, following his guilty plea to an improper conduct charge for comments relating the fitness of referee Alan Wiley.

    What happened

. "Sir Alex Ferguson banned for two games and fined after Alan Wiley jibe".

And Wiley retired a year later, when he was two years younger than Mike Dean is now.
Ferguson didn't back down and got the same punishment as Pochettino.

Buried behind The Times' paywall is a story stating Poch wants to sign six new players to overhaul the squad, with the supposed shopping list consisting of three defenders, a holding midfielder and two attacking players

What interests me, however, is a very different question: who does Poch see as the core of his rebuilt squad?

It's probably safe to assume Ndombele is seen as one of the core, given a DM is on the list coupled with not only how long we chased him but also how integrating him into the team was more important than such mundane tasks as not completely destabilising our team for a couple of months with a stupid bloody formation

The attacking band, however, is where things get interesting: on the face of it the obvious suggestion is the two attacking players Poch wants are an Eriksen replacement and a Kane understudy...but then again surely Lo Celso is seen as a member of the new core and, coupled with Dele being in the team, perhaps Poch's interest lies elsewhere, such as a Lamela replacement and/or someone he trusts more than Lucas to play regularly? And where does Sessegnon fit in with all of this?

Similar can be said with the three defenders. Working on the assumption that the basis is that Toby & Verts leave while we jettison Aurier & Rose, the obvious suggestion is one CB, one RB and one LB...but then again, if Sessegnon is seen as the long-term replacement for Rose then wouldn't that mean two CBs and an RB? And if we assume Sanchez is seen as another core player, where to Dier and Foyth fit in with this?

And don't get me started on what formation we could end up using...

Allegri is a top coach. He's quite defensive though, Poch did at least get you playing attractive football again. The problem you might have getting him though is that potentially Arsenal, Man Utd and Spurs will be looking for new managers soon and it could be a case of whoever blinks first gets their man.

Assuming that all of our players on expiring contracts leave, then we'd need to replace them and preferably do it before they go.
That's two centre-halves and an attacking midfielder. Replacements for Llorente and Wanyama are probably fair bets, too.
That leaves a right-back, in my opinion. We could probably do with two and loaning out Walker-Peters, though.

The squad needs an overhaul in the next two windows, regardless of whether Pochettino's still the manager or not.
It should have been done more gradually during our self-imposed transfer ban, but that's in the past.
As I've said repeatedly already, we've got to have better overall planning in the future and address things before they become an issue.

The weird thing about the last two summers is that, looking at them more closely, it looks like they were a case of the exact opposite of what the Lunatic Fringe say: the issue was we weren't selling

In the case of summer 2018 it appeared that Poch expected Toby and Dembele to both leave and we can probably add Janssen to the list as we needed to free up some non-HG spots in the squad...but they didn't leave, as Dembele missed the Chinese window through injury so remained at the club until January, Janssen was injured until November so nobody was going to take a punt on him, while the lack of interest in Toby was particularly odd. As a result we couldn't sign any non-HG players, which culminated in the half-assed approach for Jack Grealish

Similar happened this summer as well: surely we were expecting a transfer windfall from Eriksen that never materialised, and on top of that while we clear some deadwood by finally moving on Janssen and GKN the issue was more deadwood had accumulated in Wanyama, Rose and Aurier - and the fact Wanyama and Rose pulled the plug on their departures over wages made it that little bit more irritating

SAF regularly criticised refs and was frequently punished.
He got a 5 game ban for criticising Twatkinson when he should have been given a free holiday with spending money and a gold clock.
He said what most people were thinking.
Refs are still useless but at least in his day they were given food for thought when somebody so high profile spoke out.
We need managers to voice their concerns even if they get punished. Bring back Neil Warnock.

What worries me is that most if not all of the current speculation - including on this board - works on the assumption that Kane and Son (our most marketable assets) will still be here next season. I think it is high time we prepared ourselves for the worst. If we do not make CL football next season (looking incredibly likely), there is a chance - not overwhelming but at the same time too big to ignore - that both of them will want out come June. They turn 27 and 28 respectively in July. Would they want to stick around for another 5-year project? I doubt it. If heaven forbid that does happen, we are looking at an entirely new team. Although we will have the money to do it as the two of them will fetch circa £300m.

In all honesty if I was Kane or Son and my team just missed out on top 4 and enjoyed yet another trophy-less season, the only thing that would keep me here is the arrival of numerous big-name players (ambition in the market), the arrival of a big-name manager (ambition in the dug-out), or both.

Come on HBIC, are you honestly 100% certain that if we miss out on top 4 they'll want to sit around waiting for a rebuild?

Unlike DGC, I don't want them sold. I'd happily see them finish their careers here. But time is ticking. Season after next they'll both be approaching 30. It is naive in the extreme to think that a player will commit to a club and miss out on certain success elsewhere due to a sentimental attachment. Players are rarely, if ever, as loyal as fans. Off the top of my head, only Shearer and Le Tissier have sacrificed career for loyalty in the PL era.
