What is it with us and opposition managers? It seems that getting beaten by little old Brizzle City is the humiliating last straw!!! How many is it now that LJ has seen off?
I always feel a bit glum when a true character leaves the game . I didn't always like what the man got up to but there is no doubt the man is a winner and deserves all accolades he gets , good luck to the guy in his well earned retirement. I wish him well, I visit Looe frequently and I might let him buy me a pint in the Harbour Moon and toast Bristol City FC.
I’d love to sit down with the bloke and chat football. I bet he’s a real gent. All that panto stuff is part of his act.
No LJ is going in the right direction now. However would have been happy if Warnock had got the job before LJ.
It's not really fair for people to draw comparisons between Warnock and LJ, as has been said Warnock has won countless promotions and has had some success in Cup games but he is 70 years old and 40 of these he has been a manager, LJ has won nothing, no promotions and no tin pot cups it's true but he has only been managing for 5/6 years and is only 36, he ain't doing bad and his time will come for sure.
Must admit I'm well surprised at the appreciation going Warnock's way on here. I thought it would be all slating him and having a pop! But I completely agree, when he's against you, you love to hate him but it's all gamesmanship and trying to get a reaction from his players. He's one of the few classic managers left in the game, probably tactically nowhere near some of the younger guys but when it comes to motivating a team he must blow them all away. Such a great character. This probably is his retirement, and if it is, for me it's definitely a sad thing. I hear he lives in Looe in Cornwall, lovely place, would love to bump into him one day.
I always thought he was a great Manager, and I always had a lot of time for him. The game in general will be far poorer for his absence. Enjoy your retirement Neil !
Had the game on Sunday been a draw or a win for Cardiff would he have jacked it in? the comment was made now is a good time to hand over to a new a face? ..... had this been premeditated then surely they would have lined someone up to step straight in? He did very well with picking up some very cheap players be they out of contract or ….. so maybe he just looked at the game on Sunday and thought .. the gilt has pretty much worn off my squad and I cant really do anymore with them …. and rather end my career down in the doldrums .. step out now?
Its the circle of life he started his Cardiff career against us. Only fair that it Should end against us as well
Someone suggested over on the Cardiff forum that Holloway would be a contender for Warnocks old job, might be right.
Here is the latest odds Neil Harris - 1/4 Michael Flynn - 6/1 Chris Hughton - 7/1 Lee Bowyer - 9/1 Sol Bamba - 10/1 Red Robin - 1/1 Gareth Ainsworth - 22/1 Craig Bellamy - 25/1 Mark Hughes 25/1 Robert Earnshaw - 25/1 Tony Pulis - 25/1 Aitor Karanka - 28/1 Chris Coleman - 28/1
Out of date - looks like only 3 in it now........ Neil Harris 5/6 Mark (Sparky) Hughes 13/8 Lee Bowyer 4/1
I just wonder will they go for a younger man with modern thinking or an old out of date war horse with a successful results record.
