I bought a 3 bed house last march which needed a new boiler. My main plumber recommended bloke below based in Lockington but do a lot of work in Hull. £1400 for ideal boiler Inc fitting. Would recommend. Also almost 10/10 on check a trade.

He also helped my parents sort a warranty claim with their boiler which he did not fit after I recommend him after their installer went AWOL, no charge

I’m in Anlaby and used the Gas Company. Big firm who do lots of council stuff, so they’re big enough to deal with any problems and I found them really good and good value when we did full system replacement and extra rads too.
Used them for other smaller jobs too after that.

Worcester Bosch boiler but I assume they do others

Plumbers have got to be the most unreliable tradespeople around !
You must have to have the biggest , I couldn't give a **** mind mentality to be one .
The hours and days I've wasted for them not to turn up and not give a **** is infuriating.

We have used Aquashield on Anlaby Road for many years and find them and their staff excellent, had a new ATAG boiler fitted about 18 months ago and was good value which they recommended and it works fine. https://www.aquashieldplumbing.co.uk

I needed a new boiler and my father in law looked at a company called Boxt online, you fill in what you want and it gives you prices if you want to go ahead you can book online and you can choose what dates best for you,
even shows if you save some money by doing it on certain dates.

    Call outs,

My boiler doesn't work. Call the installer back. Can't, he retired years ago. Ah, so how old is the boiler? Yes, it could be a simple fix, but then the customer expects you to be the new warranty for future breakdowns.

Fit a new boiler to an old system. Errr no. The boiler manufacturers warranty only covers new systems. Or power flushed.

My combi boiler loses pressure. Ask the customer to check for leaks on the radiators and valves, any water marks on the ceiling? Can you get under the floor, no, it's concrete. Good luck with that.

Who installed the system? Shuffling of feet and sideways glances at hubby. And microbore pipework. Hello, goodbye.

Yes, that's a straightforward repair, I'll pop and get the part for you. Only to be waiting in a queue while one of the counter staff tries to sort out a fix for an internet bought shower waste, the sizes of which are incompatible with UK pipe and fittings.
Speaking of which, please will you give me a price to install an internet, I'll just stop you there, no thank you.

My tap is dripping. No isolation valves and the stopcock hasn't been used. Ever. No worries I'll use the pipe freeze kit. There you go all sorted. How much? For a dripping tap?

My toilets leaking. Sorry after a while you lose all enthusiasm for kneeling and poking around on piss soaked bathroom floors. And the solidified **** in the pan connector.

My toilets blocked, and sat on the cistern are the baby wipes. Where is the inspection chamber? There isn't one? See ya.

I could go on, but enough there to balance the some plumbers are and yes, so are some customers.

I can only speak for Worcester Bosch, but they have retained plumbers that do work on their kit (branded vans, the lot) and will quote you a price if you don't have a maintenance contract with them. I did that a few years ago and the work was excellent, and pretty reasonably priced. As a result, I got a maintenance contract with them (and would recommend that if it can be afforded, our boiler is about ten years old now and has barely any original parts left on it, most of which have been replaced through the contract at no additional cost).

Bloke who does my plumbing rates both but has a Worcester Bosch himself . Had one fitted myself a couple of months ago on that basis.
Anyone on certain benefits with a faulty boiler can get one fitted at a vastly reduced price in some areas under a government scheme. Was anyone with a boiler over a certain age or one with poor efficiency but now restricted to some benefits, DLA, PIP and a few others.
