Brendan Rodgers has took a swipe at Liverpool saying the reason his teams were good at attacking but not defending is because Liverpool wouldn't let him spend money on defenders. He is saying Liverpool now have good defenders and Leicester has good defenders (which is why his team is doing well now). We do spend more now than under the previous regime, and Klopp does have better defenders; however, I trust Klopp to spend money more than I do Rodgers. Klopp almost never gets a transfer wrong... Rodgers had several clunkers. The other thing is: fiscally the club is more able to spend money now. We were still digging out of the Hicks and Gillette hole when Rodgers took over. He can't blame the club for being tight with the purse strings.
All mine talk cra.., oh - not that sort of ex...... I agree with all you've said. Klopp is careful with his signings, Brod was too profligate and not discerning enough. Having said that, I didn't think he was that bad a manager and I wish him well with Leicester. Apart from when they play us.
I never disliked Brod, I just felt like he was t ready for managing us. Perhaps at a future date hell be ready. If he were ready, I'd be happy with taking him back if he lost his soft and undemanding side. he already has a house
Klopp talking on phone to VVD: "don't let them score against us". Rodgers listening via bug: "that's what I've been doing wrong".
Rodgers hasn't bought anyone for Leicester yet, he's lucked out with the players they already had. He changed our system for the better initially too. Let's not forget his defensive picks were Lovren, Moreno, Clyne and Sakho for a fair sum. We'll see if he improves Leicester in the same way
Brendan Rodger's failure to win the league with Liverpool were his own faults, he should have settled for a draw against Chelsea and win at Crystal Palace. He was chasing the goal difference of Manchester city.
I rate Rodgers, he was just a bit yellow and naive when he was with us. In an attacking sense, he knew how to set up to get the most out of players. He often struggled to renew and replace within a squad over time though - as mentioned, his transfer history V Klopp's are night and day. Hope he's sorted that now.and he'll do very well imo.
I just checked his transfer history at Celtic and it seems that was very hit and miss as well. Time will tell, once he's actually bought some players for Leicester. I thank him for Firmino
He is doing fine at Leicester and with investment his team can challenge for the title next season. I would be surprised if Leicester fails to make top four this season
There's no such option as settle for a draw. Either you attack, or be attacked and hope for the best. Even Klopp with Van Dijk and Alisson can't keep clean sheets.
Nah, Klopp knew he was coming and advised FSG to buy him. If Rogers I’d bought him, he’d have know what to do with him
I can’t fault him for that tbh We were going to lose title on gd cause they were loads ahead That said maybe he should have realised that earlier on cause I know I did it was like panic buying

I don't blame Rodgers for the transfer fiasco. You have to remember that the structure at that time was not efficient in terms of recruitment and it seemed there were people in the committee who had power. FSG have just not stumbled on this system. They have had to learn and via trial and error. Rodgers only crime was he was inexperenced. Klopp already came from 14 years in the game and a transfer system that worked in Dortmund. It is no suprise that he has had a high success rate. It is clear Rodgers is a good coach and with more experience he could become elite.
I disagree. I think the structure is pretty much the same - Mike Edwards is the main man for transfers, Fallows and Hunter are the chief scouts. I think the issue is more to do with Rodgers stubbornness working in such a structure. Compare to Klopp who has embraced the structure and works with these people instead of against it. Rodgers has done a good job so far at Leicester but their scouting team have done a great job at bringing in these young talented players. Let’s see what Rodgers does when he starts bringing in his own players.
