Football Supporters Association are taking it up with the EFA as well - just heard from them.

 

Whilst "Courtsiding " is the quoted reason behind this, it is actually nothing much to do with supporters in general, but everything to do with the bookies and data gathering from a single source. The security team will be looking for those people courtsiding, but they are actually after bigger fish, unlicensed data providers. They are trying to enforce a monopoly.

This is ALL about the EFL and Premier League creating a monopoly on football data.

A betting company acting morally. Please. Betting is not like it was, a few guys in a shop putting a few quid on. It is an out of control curse on society that needs some serious government intervention to prevent abuse of power. The EFL should ban these people from entering stadia and acting like cops. They are not police but greedy unscrupulous twats.

 

The company that employ the security teams is owned by the EFL and Premier League

i've just read the report on this in the hdm and i think it's utterly disgusting. you and your son have been treated dreadfully by jobsworth fascist ****s who deserve a thorough and unending bricking to the head. comsec have behaved like utter bastards. at the next game everybody should wear headphones, even if they are connected to nothing. an apology from the jumped-up bully boy ****ers is the absolute least you should have had, but compensation for missing part of the game should be added.

as i said, next game everybody should wear headphones.

If this were to actually happen it would be brilliant. National press would lap it up and EFL and PL could be made to look ridiculous.

 

Should be easy enough, in fact if I search through a few drawers I’ve probably got enough old ones kicking around for half of east stand!!!

 

We were very pissed off by the whole thing - it felt like one more nail in the coffin for our love of football. We already felt unvalued and ripped off so to be "criminalised" really put the topping on it!

One bright spot worth mentioning (and I am not an Allam apologist in the slightest!) is that the OSC picked this up in minutes, they were onto the club within the hour and within 10 mins of that, the club press officer reacted and condemned what had happened. This morning the commercial arm of the club got in touch (see above) and were very frank and told me they were particularly pissed off because of the effort that they have been putting in to build bridges. They also were honest enough to 'fes up to their role in this and apologise.
Now I'm not saying that all in the garden is rosy now but if nothing else, at employee level there seems to be a genuine attempt to make things better and I just got a hint of that old feeling of belonging to something that used to be the reason for turning out rain or shine for longer than I care to remember. Maybe there is a flicker of hope. (what's the betting that they come up with something stupid by tomorrow)

 

That explains the fact that they said it was picked up from this forum. I had been thinking that someone from the club was following what was going on here.

It’s getting a bit nippy now it’s November. Wearing headphones would be a good way of keeping my earholes warm, great idea.

 

As with the Allans, saying sorry isn't enough - actions speak louder than words - in this case the least they could do was offer some hospitality at the next match

 

Do they have any actual rights these people? Could a supporter refuse to tell them anything and sit down or can they throw you out of the ground?

 

I wondered about this too.....even the police have limitations on their powers.

 

This is really the nub of the matter. As soon as we started to challenge their authority, not only did the story they were telling change but the attitude started to drop. Initially, they were acting as if they had all the authority in the world - it didn't help that they had a posse of stewards around them acting as if the ComSec guy was James Bond and had just captured a Russian spy. Once we started challenging them to do something they started backing off and in the end, we just walked away.

The club has said that clearly nothing that we had done was in contravention of stadium rules and stewards should never have become involved.

More interestingly we have had advice that we could make a case for "illegal constraint" which stops people being prevented from carrying out their normal activities - as far as I can see its the civil version of wrongful arrest. I would want more detailed advice before doing anything with this but clearly there are laws in place that stop this sort of action

 

I suggest also compulsory blind folds and to join in with the majority sat around me on Saturday in E5, gags.
