Not good enough all over today, too scrappy and didn't get our passing going as well as we have done. A point at home against a team in the relegation zone is not good, but it does break our run of two losses. I hope the squad will get a bit of a break now, and use the international break to rest up and work on defending...before another Friday night in front of the Sky cameras .
We got a lucky point today Ruperts next need to turn it back on again quickly and that’s a game we don’t usually get anything from . Brentford now above is I think get back on track Rs
Think it was a Wells back pass into space in our box that gave them the 2nd. Mix up by Manning / Wallace the first. But we do look chaotic defensively, and not too good going forward today, or recently.
We need to break this string of disappointing results. And the games won’t be getting any easier. Come on lads sort out this defence ... PLEASE!!! Teams just aren’t afraid to attack us as they know there’s a goal or two in it for them if they do. We can’t keep doing this.
Very poor today & goals conceded are a joke, Boro looked more up for it than us! I’m sure it was wells who gave the back pass & not manning, could be wrong, passing again not good enough & not sure about Kane at RB, passing out from back was dodgy again & lumley & they get in such a mess every time, still didn’t lose but so easily could’ve lost that, they got a break now & think I need one!
At least the Ruperts striker got a yellow today and so is out for our game. We were terrible again today.
Very little quality anywhere to be seen today. Sloppy passing and the defence looking very dodgy. If it wasn't for the lovely weather it would have been a miserable afternoon.
I'm getting increasingly frustrated by our insistence on playing the ball square and short out of our own box all the time The number of times it leads to us panicking and putting the ball out of play or just giving it to the opposition is embarrassing I didn't understand the logic in taking Amos off today - I thought he looked really good Unfortunately we are now realising that top 6 was a false position for us. There are more than 6 better teams than us in this division
Amos is sadly built out of matchsticks so probably couldn’t play any longer. Agree he was doing ok. We don’t seem capable of judging the situation at all. Pissing down with rain and being pressed when 2-1 up is not the time to over-play. There were a few times though where we were brave with the ball and it opened them up. Just poor choices at times and it’s not improving.
First, lets keep a perspective please. We were down as relegation fodder this season and here we are with 24 pts on 10th. Others gave said it but it needs emphasising because we are doing ok. This in turn raises expectations- perhaps unrealistically. Boro are a big and ugly side though, in fairness, with some skill too. I was concerned when I saw the line-up as to whether the changes would be too unsettling. Pleased to see Lumley back as marginally better than Kelly. The warning sign was the disallowed goal on 2 mins. Boro had clearly not come to roll over. We had difficulty dealing with the sheer physicality of the Boro Boys. Assombalonga is a typical Boro player. Stocky, tough and tenacious. Considering this factor alone, I wondered why Hugill was on the bench and not starting. The chances he had in 20 mins, extrapolated over the whole game, might have made a difference. There were too many misplaced passes, second to the ball but a fair few 50:50s that just did not go our way. Just one example was a tussle in front of the R block when we kicked it at their man for a corner but somehow landed at his feet for him to clear. The defensive errors cost us and gifted them their two goals. It's great we scored two but we need to.score more than they do! There is nothing to forgive Wells for. He busts a gut.for QPR, often scores or creates chances and is allowed to make the odd error, albeit a rather calamitous one. Sh1t happens. BFG2 was also missed. Hugill looked lively and I really thought his header was in at the death..Alas. The ref was a stickler. Not seen the pen shout for Hugill but pleased to see their keeper get a yellow which was wholly deserved! A disjointed and disappointing afternoon for The Rs. We now prepare to meet Fulham who are only two points ahead of us but under lights on Friday night live on Sky! Time to shine lads, time to shine!
In hindsight that match was absolutely crying out for my guy Hugsy. Their defenders shat themselves whenever we got within thirty yards of the goal. His miss on around 89’ was criminal from a great Kane cross. Kane got a couple of good crosses in but we lack any threat on that side when BOS isn’t playing. Still think he should be preferred to Angel for my sanity.
Pretty sure the Hugill incident was outside the box. You get loads of these ludicrous by the book officials hoping their assessor is in the stand. Quite why Boro were so intent on timewasting when we were so ripe for conceding a winner only they’ll know.
Hope they are coaching BOS how to defend as a wing back, then I'd prefer him for Kane. I don't see Kane doing much defending anyway.
