The Stupidest Rumour You Will hear All Season Are you sitting down? Is there anything near your person that will break or spill if you knock it over due to sudden, involuntary movements? Okay, if you're sat down and not at risk of breakages and/or spillages, I will begin... TuttoMercatoWeb have reported that we have contacted Milan about a Lloris-for-Donnarumma swap deal
Ajax Raid Watch Murdoch's Hate Comic report that we're preparing a £35m for one of the Ajax players who played a key role in the semi final last season ...that player being Andre Onanna, who was instrumental in Lucas' second goal and whose response was to blame the rest of the defence for it
Bundesliga Not-So-Rando Watch Express (that's the German one, not the Tory-loving one with a weird obsession with Princess Diana in 2019) have reported that we're scouting Swiss international Denis Zakira of A German Team, with them expecting a £44m fee To put this in context, Express (not that one) are reporting that we're looking to sign an out-and-out DM, a player we have so clearly lacked not just this season but to be brutally honest most of last season due to Dier missing chunks of the season through injury or illness coupled with Wanyama being completely broken at this point, and given our inability to control midfield this season this is the exact move we need to go all-out to tie up In terms of what to expect, Zakira has drawn the usual comparisons to Patrick Vieira and Paul Pogba that every defensive midfielder of West African extraction inevitably gets, but he absolutely strikes me as a vital cog for our system as when we're on the back foot he's got the strength, speed and defensive nous to shut the door on opponents to regain possession, but on top of that he's got the passing and dribbling to quickly recycle the ball and get us going once more - or, to put it another way, if we did manage to sign him we'd once again have the sort of midfield pivot that could dominate games
I'd be well up for this. Still very young with bags of potential. He has been an integral member of Gladrags' team since he joined 2 and a bit years ago, chipping in with a nice amount of goals for a DM. He is a bit of a card magnet though in the Zokora or Palacios tradition. They are flying this season though - unless they suffer a complete collapse between now and January, I can't see them letting him go mid-season.
Lower League Rando Watch Remember how Peterborough's manager stated he turned down a £2m offer for one of their 16-year olds last month? It's been suggested it was striker Ricky-jade Jones, who has just signed a three-year contract
Manchester United will bid £42m for Tottenham and Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen, 27, in January. (El Desmarque - via Express) Would Eriksen actually improve United? If he plays anything like he does for us, I'm not sure he will. Therefore, I would happily see him go to United for £42m.
Tbh I would take it....makes no difference where he goes to me and the money would be helpful. But...why would he choose to go there? ... things are as difficult there as here!
True, but you do get the feeling that we have the ability to rescue our season, especially if Eriksen spends more time on the subs' bench.
Why would Eriksen want to join United other than for lots and lots of money, I thought he wants a dream move to a Spanish giant, moving to United in their current state would be at best a sideways step and probably (just still) a step down from Spurs.
Tottenham are ready to make a £50m bid for 25-year-old Netherlands forward Memphis Depay, who moved to French club Lyon from Manchester United in January 2017. (Sunday Mirror) Surely we need to concentrate on our defence, first.
Thats surely just a downgrade on Lucas who cant get in the team. Holding midfielders, then right and centre backs please
From where i sit you criminally under use Lucas . Is he one of those players who were bought on the recommendation of the scouts rather than the manager leaving Poch not fancying him for whatever reason ?
I think most Spurs fans would agree with you, although he seems to be more effective when used as a substitute although 10 minutes is hardly enough for any player to get into a game. Take yesterday, Kane was clearly below par so half time was perhaps the time to bring on Lucas to give him time to make his impact.
Think you’ll find every Spurs fan will agree with you mate. Can understand him not always being in the XI but he’s far too good a player for 5-10 minute cameos. I wouldn’t begrudge him if he asked for a transfer.
It's clear that Kane is way out of form. It's equally clear that there is no way Poch is going to drop him. If Poch does drop him and we still don't improve, the fans will still be on his back. He's damned if he does and he's damned if he doesn't.
