If he cannot handle the criticism from Arsenal fans for not giving 100% can't see him lasting here #newspaperfiller #slownewsday
I would take him as an option in CM - between the Longstaff's (Matty could probably do with a decent loan spell as well), Hayden and then he'd replace one of Shelvey or Ki, depending on what formation we are looking at - if sticking with 2 CM's in the 5-4-1 then probably don't need him or one of Shelvey/Ki but if we are going to 5-3-2 for example or 4-3-3 then another CM is a must and you'd have Xhaka and Hayden as your holding mids, Shelvey and Ki as you play-makers and Longstaff's as your box to box CM's which would make a nice Sextuplet of CM's for 3 in the middle. As HDQ says though if you can't handle a little booing at the Library that is Arsenals ground then how are we expecting the lad to deal with the boiling pot that is SJP.
Theoretically I'd be happy to see him come here as he does have talent and we are in the bottom half of the table. But I don't think he would be happy here, after a few losses and a bad performance I think he'd down tools and we would never see any quality. Not for us I think, we need lads of premier league quality who are ecstatic to even be in the league, like the Longstaffs and such. Not expensive players who know they're too good.
is he better than what we've got ? yes , so I'd be happy with the signing , but I suspect it's a non starter looking at his wages and the fact he will get better offers from clubs in both the champions league and the Europa league at worst.
Xhaka is the type of player you buy when you've got a lot of money and little sense. He's the type of player QPR would sign and get relegated with.
The more I think about this one the more it makes sense for me. Apparently him and Schar are friendly having played for the Swiss national team together so he'd already have a friendly face in the squad. Xhaka is a more defensive midfielder as well which I would say is probably our weakest position in the current squad with CB's Full backs wingers and CF all well stocked (if not quite the quality we'd all like). Would also mean we can sell off a CM - Ki would be my best guess - keep Xhaka on loan till the end of the season and then try and find someone else at the end of the year when there's more options out there. Not a long term solution but could easily do a job for us for 6 months and if he is playing out his skin and available to us we can sign him cheap in the summer as Arsenal look desperate to rid themselves of him. In short - on a loan deal he could be a handy member of the squad for the second half of the season while freeing up some transfer funds through a sale of one of the current incumbent for the summer.
Hes better than any cm weve got by a margin. The longstaffs are championship at best , shelvey is useles off the ball... hayden is probs are best atm.
seen him have a good games and bad ones , but I don't see a 50 million player yet that's for sure … xhaka is an upgrade
Probably. By the time Longstaff is nearing potential he'll be out the door, we can scream about it all we want But this is how most clubs operate now.
