Anyone else playing the new Football Manager yet? Just got into November first season and ****ing Ellis Short has taken over from the Allams.....frying pan fire..... Think the player ratings given to the City players are pretty fair, Tom Eaves is doing quite nicely for me up front in spite of pretty average looking stats and the wage and transfer budgets were very reflective of where we are, I had to sell Toral to bring in a couple of loan signings, but a solid start sees me in the play offs at the mo, though Fulham just beat me 2-1 with Bowen missing 2 pennos, the **** him.
I've started a City save but not actually started playing yet. Sacked LD to save £4k pw. Scouted a few right backs as lichaj is out for 3mths. Bowen not interested in new terms; might try and cash in. Any tips for City? What position you in by Nov?
I never play as City. Just feels weird. I always start the game unemployed and fast forward the game to January, and see where I can go from there.
I also sacked LD at the first opportunity, not that I have anything against him (now, fair play with what he's done tbh) but to save the £ and give me total control! I sold Toral as I rarely play with an AM and Milinkovic as we've loads who play on the wing, NB a lot of our players have contract extension clauses, like Bowen, so worth triggering it to tie him down for an extra season. I signed a lad called Mitch Clark on loan from Leicester for RB, v good addition - full backs / wing backs seem to be really important players in this version (i've been playing mine as wing backs to get up and support Bowen/Turbo) and Rhian Brewster from Liverpool, both reasonable loan wages and within budget. By November I was in the top 6, finished my first season last night and got promoted, finished 2nd level on points with Fulham with Brentford winning the title by a point! Played a normal back 4, 1 DM, 2 CMs, 2 inside forwards and a pressing forward and went attacking gengenpress. Smashed it
I'll have a look at Clark and Brewster. I've also offloaded milincovic but got **** all for him, 200k with a sell on. I'll probably follow suit on Toral as I dont use a AM usually. I've been using the same formation but a more conservative approach. Spotted bowens trigger last night. Tied him down, just need to get promoted!
Even playing attacking gengenpress i conceded 3rd fewest I think in the league, database this time seems to really favour it. Go for it, smash the ****ers.
I have a 4-2-3-1 tactic which I’ve used since 2011 and I’ve yet to swap it out. I had decent gains on 2019, Xadas on loan was an absolute beast and got him after promotion for £6m.
