Dear me I've never ever known fans like ours who are suddenly obsessed with the finances of the club since donald and Co took over

It was never like this under Ellis Short fans weren't bothered I never saw thread after thread on safc forums picking the bones out of every transaction

It's becoming tedious and embarrassing now tbh the amount of posters who seem to be financial experts all of a sudden

I think it's because the moaners knew Short was a billionaire so they didn't have anything to maon about in regards to finances whereas some just see SD as a chancer without a pot to piss in.

Even with the yanks on board they're still looking for negatives.

Chris the accountant literally has nothing else to do but slag off the owners.

Not overly happy with Donald and Methven and how they’ve been running the club, but he goes on like a spoilt brat.

Agree with you on most of that mate.

I think there's definitely something more than a loan happening. Loaning 9m to football club for no apparent reason would be pointless for these guys.

But on the other hand, only loaning 9m at this stage, gives them an opportunity to walk away further down the line, if, 'it's not quite for them'.

To them it could be an initial small amount, see if they like the club, the area potential, the people, the weather, or what ever floats their boat or interests.

If they like what they see, great, turn the loan into shares and buy the rest of the club. If not, recall the loan, and no harm done.

Also millionaires in my opinion are not the tightest people on earth. Many of them are big charity donators, and most tend to be very giving in my experience, not doubting your experiences of course.

When they morph from takers to givers eg bill gates it is to good causes eg medical research.
I know we all may believe our club deserves charity, but I sincerely doubt that anyone outside of a 20 mile radius of the SOL thinks the same way.
They are not giving us any money because they are nice guys. Rather they see a possible investment that gives a good return and gets them notice and presence in the UK.
A premier league game is a good meeting place for the high and mighty to discuss and make deals..if and when we get there

My accountant makes decent money and is worth a few quid. He donates to charity as it allows him to earn more money without paying tax - we are talking relatively small monies here as he's not a millionaire - so you can imagine that these millionaires giving large sums to charity will do so for the same reason. Very few rich people do selfless things - there's almost always an ulterior motive behind it

Do you think money defines a person then?

How many rich people do you personally know?

And from the rich people you do know, how many times have you seen these ulterior motives when the person is displaying a selfless act?

No money does not define a person

Not sure how many "rich" people I know as that term is objective - My uncle does not think he is "rich" - but he is worth in excess of £2m

From my experience, very few people do things selflessly - rich people even less so - you don't have to see an ulterior motive to know it's there. We all want to try to pay as little to the government as we can - that's not me saying these rich people don't do good for the charities - just that they will make money out of it.

I've never understood this mind. People often say that someone who is rich has donated just to avoid tax. How does that work though? I mean, I get that it comes off your taxable income, so you pay less tax, but surely if you give £1,000,000 to a charity, its only saved you the tax you'd have been charged on that £1m (400k for someone in 40% tax bracket). So the donation looks more generous than it is in terms of how much they've paid to make it, but they're still 600k worse off than if they simply hadn't made the £1m donation and had paid the 400k tax. I'm sure I'm missing something here but it's always confused me!

Tends to happen when the owners virtually make it known that we are close to becoming one of the worlds richest clubs then nothing happens for months, then we get a loan.
