Which can be more polluting than diesel. and if more peopled buy petrol motors there is more pollution. this ban will mean also those in south Bristol with diesel vehicles if they want to go to areas like Clifton, Cribbs etc have to drive around Bristol to get there adding miles to journeys and there is more pollution again.
they wont! Clifton / cribs would be via usual route of winterstoke road /Bedminster wont complicate with 2 or 3 variations usual routes or St phillips to m32 /Easton again 3 or 4 alternatives usual routes
Exactly (@Red Alert), and what if we buy a petrol car and the Government then decides that petrol cars should be restricted or taxed in the future instead? As it stands they're almost expecting us to predict their own future policy with our consumer choices which is ridiculous.
it will usual route straight up Park street to David Llyod for my gym . cant do that in future?? cant remember how much we got but we had money towards buying our first diesel car because of government policy. now on our third diesel car and have not switched back because its supposedly better for the environment but Marvin Rees evidently disagrees and has his own policies!!
No don't do that clogs them up big time the amount off vehicles we have had to sort out running issues .
I have used bio diesel in Fiat doblo's one 200k the other 440k in a Ducato 236k a scenic 60k also know of vehs fords fiesta's and other similar, along with Doblo's Ducato's and Transits run on pure cooking oil for in excess of 100k …. during jan feb mixed with approx. 10% diesel and 2% petrol …. economy was same if not better sometimes apparently and cost per mile about 20% cheaper
I thought the last clown in the red trousers was bad. This un's just a basket case There is no need for a political Mayor in Bristol, so get shot of him and his horrible side kick woman. Or better yet, shoot them both and be done. I have a diesel engined vehicle and after the government of the time all those years ago told us all to buy Diesels, I have. A VW Sharan, a Renault Grand Scenic, a BMW 520 and the 2.0 Mondeo Ghia that I still have now.
I was told it’s only going to be 7am to 15:30 Monday to Friday that you pay for. Wondered how they will be able to asphalt the roads when needed with those diesel pavers.
majority steer clear of centre of Bristol anyway so wont add a great deal …. people who drive to /park in CITY CENTRE AREA will have the problems need to be parked before 7am and cant leave till 3pm. Parking on meters is 2 hours and throughout the day cars move regularly up and down the road /roads to not be parked where they were … daughter telling me all bout their office [ solicitors ] and 20 of them have a routine … that will stop! as you cant move if a diesel!
Spot on - this applies to every City - decisions made on politics and getting re-elected rather than what's best for the City
I am a diesel owner. So obviously I am against the diesel ban but I would still feel the same way if I wasn't a diesel owner. There are many reasons why this ban is a stupid idea (some already mentioned already). But the main one personally for my own circumstances is due to my wife. She has various health conditions and as a result of that, she regularly attends the BRI hospital for appointments for her condition. At least twice a month. Now we could get a bus but as they are unreliable, she'll probably be late. It would be 2 buses too, unless we get just the one to town and then have a difficult walk due to her mobility issues. Taxi will be more expensive than the diesel charge so may as well drive.
somewhere down the line I did a post on "Bristol pollution sickness BPS " one bad summer back in the 80's hundreds of peeps suffered from nausea and dizziness … some it was almost constant to others like me it started on a Monday night got seriously worse toward Thursday night and most Fridays I didn't work! I had blood tests urine tests but my doctor stated after about 5 weeks no one [ doctors in Bristol ] had a cure. after about 2 or so month's it was identified as BPS! Told my employer they gave me a different area and never had a bad week after moving. I stopped at Togg hill on my way home one after noon and all you could see were crystal clear tops of church spires cranes and the highest buildings poking out of a purplish pink cloud …. driving down into the city centre it looked as clear as crystal. some professor had identified the problem, prevailing wind breeze blows up Avon gorge and traps pollution in the bowl that Bristol sits in. red trousers plan was to have charging zone [ refused] and to assist the need for it reduced speed limits, slowed up traffic and therefore increased pollution . there is a lot of roadworks ...again, in Bristol same old roads to increase traffic flow! .. they screwed it up when they removed the flyover ..
Just had some blue bags delivered today from Bristol City Council for collecting cardboard......is that another recycling DIESEL truck on the road? And we are to believe they want to cut pollution
there must be some backhanders going on there or … even worse the city council has screwed up over previous " non improvements" costing us £1000's in council Tax city council has been extremely wasteful over the past 10 years
