Fact is he has nothing to reproach himself about. Had it been studs up and reckless, then go away and reflect on what you've done. This was just an accident, so, like you, I hope he is ok to play. I wouldn't judge him if he feels differently though.
People are affected by different experiences in different ways. We may not understand how a course of action may help but if it does help then that is all that matters.
I still think 343 is the right formation for our squad. All our full backs are better going forward than defending and Davies can play in the three at the back. Gazza Foyth Sanchez Davies Sissoko Ndombele Lo Celso Sessegnon Son Kane Dele with Vorm Alderweireld Dier Vertonghen Walker-Peters Winks Skipp Rose Lucas Parrott Lamela As back up. Ignoring Eriksen and Aurier for the moment.
Sounds like Winks and KWP haven't travelled. KWP seems done here to be honest but even though I'm not Winks' biggest fan I'm a bit surprised he's not in the squad. No talk of injury/ illness (yet), didn't come on against Everton either.
We've badly mismanaged Walker-Peters for a couple of seasons. He won the youth World Cup playing out of position and has barely played since, at any level.
Yeah our management of youth in general has been a **** show for last couple years, CK and I touched on it when talking to G4E the other night. Seem to be keeping our best prospects around the first team squad yet giving them very few chances whilst preventing them from playing for the U23s. This is happening to KWP for what is now his 3rd season in the first team, to Skipp in his 2nd season and it looks like Tanganga is the next one with this being his first. I appreciate the loan system doesn't always work but surely it's better than keeping a player around to do borderline nothing? Especially as what we've done so far with KWP has massively halted his development. He's 22, will be 23 before the season finishes and yet his experience and playing level is that of an 18/19 year old.
I've said it before but we used to have the Football Combination which was a league of the reserve teams, so more players got to play competitive football as well as somewhere for players returning from injury could pick up speed. It worked.
We have that mate with the Premier League 2. Teams in that are also able to enter into the EFL Trophy - which ironically our PL2 side managed to beat Colchester on penalties this season. Yet for some reason we haven't allowed KWP/ Skipp/ Tanganga to play for it even when they're not getting game time for the first team.
Its hard to imagine many cases where a team has won by 7 goals and then lost to the same opposition a month later! But i fear a similar swing later, even if our form was good this would be a tricky assignment will be amazed if we win tonight and delighted to get out with a draw.
Now would be a good time to break the habit of our first team and youth team getting the same results...
Toby went walkabouts again for the goal on Sunday and if you look at a lot of our goals this season he looks like he's marking an invisible striker the way he just drifts off into space instead of picking up a striker. I'd like to see Dier tried out at centreback again since the Belgians have forgotten how to defend. Definitely overdue that Lo Celso gets a start too. I'd go with: Gazza Foyth, Sanchez, Dier, Davies Tanguy, Sissoko Lucas, Lo Celso, Dele Kane
Looks like people weren’t far off. I’m happy with the selection and looking forward to seeing GLC start and how Foyth gets on at RB
Yeah happy with that. Surprised Son is starting but that shows a great attitude from him to wanna put the other day behind him. On paper this team should definitely get a result here tonight. EDIT: A Tanguy-Gio link up from the start for the first time . If only Eriksen had his head straight, those three on form in the same XI would be better to watch than porn I reckon.
Some long-overdue bravery with that starting lineup ...and a reminder at how thin the line between bravery and stupidity is with his choice of left back
Not sure about that defence, but I'll wait to see how we line up before I form any opinions on the team selection.
