QPR Want to Sign Former Portsmouth Star in January QPR boss Neil Warnock is being linked with former Portsmouth defender Nadir Belhadj in the January transfer window after missing out on the player over the summer. The Algeria international was close to joining the west London club in the summer but his wage demands were too high and priced him out of a move. However, now that QPR have Tony Fernandes at the helm, Warnock knows that he can offer improved wages and is hopeful that the former Pompey left-back will join the club. The 29-year-old is currently playing for Qatar league champions Al Sadd after leaving Portsmouth in the summer of 2010 when his last appearance for the club was winning the FA Cup. The vastly experienced defender was wanted by a number of clubs during the summer with Celtic, Wigan and Wolves all trying to land the left-sided player. Al Sadd made it clear that they did not want to sell the former Lyon defender, but with QPR willing to match his wage demands and offer him a way back into the Premier League, Warnock is confident that he can land Belhadj. QPR have enjoyed an encouraging start to the season and are hopeful that they can continue to build their squad when the January transfer window opens. http://www.sportsvibe.co.uk/news/football/qpr-want-to-sign-former-portsmouth-star-in-january-10901/
See what you're saying Friendly. This could be the predicted striker... Both Portsmouth and Qatar are south of London (as is most of the rest of the planet) and Belhadj is a striker - in a defender kind of way. That's the thing with predictions isn't it? If you stretch the facts wide enough, they'll fit round most predictions easily enough!!
I'd rather we got Johnson - I think he's still at Birmingham? Or Karel Henry - he looked like he could slot into our team easily enough....
Belhadj is a left back though if i recall, good to have cover but I can't see either him or Traore content with the QPR bench.
