I want to win as much as anyone, but I expect to be entertained in the process. I fully understand that there are times when you just have to grind out a few results, but I don't want that to be our preferred approach. For context, I said this at the time when we were discussing Mourinho at Utd. From the start I thought he was a bad fit for them because he has a negative approach, but some said he's a serial winner so who cares? I said I wanted us play good football and win, and winning his way doesn't do it for me. It's a whole discussion in itself, but that was my stance then and it still is now. Of course I'd be up for the entertainment value of these peripheral competitions if it weren't for the fact that there are too many games, and we risk burn-out and a detrimental effect on what to me is the absolute priority this season - the league. In comparison the CWC is nothing.
difference between super cup/charity shield is that those are before the season gets going so feel like pre season games to be honest. although timing isn’t ideal over a busy Xmas period, feels more like a proper tournament just because of the timing tbh
