hope this leads him to leaving the club as he isn’t good enough. Auba has the desire and passion and deserves his place in the team (as does Lacazette) so very pleased with this turn of events

Agreed. I've got nothing against Xhaka, although I think his 'apology' was half arsed. He's always given his best for Arsenal, but his best just isn't good enough for a team trying to get back into the top 4.

will disagree about giving his best, as when he plays for Switzerland he is defo passionate and hyped up, when he plays for us he is very lackadaisical

good thing this has finally been decided. I actually expect him to probably be in match day squads now.

Its a fair response to strip him of the captaincy.

Emery refused to confirm whether he would play at the weekend or when his next appearance would be. There are rumours gathering pace that he is set on leaving in January. If so, the club won't stand in his way.

Personally, I think it's best for all parties if he leaves. He's already caused division amongst the fanbase, refused to apologise and he clearly knows it is a long way back to return from, considering he was never popular to begin with. He will never be someone that can unite the fanbase. And people who strongly dislike him will jump on every minor thing he does/says to amplify it, so he'll be portrayed negatively.

We all need to move on from this saga and look ahead. Xhaka is not a part of our future. He never should have been a mainstay in our side to begin with.

I do have a bit of sympathy for him. I blame Emery mostly for this. He was not decisive in picking HIS OWN captain and left it to the players to vote. He still has not found the right balance in MF and knowing what fans think of Xhaka's performances he keeps picking him and made (probably feels like he has to as he is the captain). Unai doesn't seem to have control of his squad.

I personally have no problem with his "apology". I can totally see where he is coming from. And like I have said Unai is to blame.
Anyway good luck to Xhaka. Not the right player for us. I think he will leave in January.

This season has been nothing short of a disaster PR wise and on the pitch. How did it all go so wrong? Horrific decision to allow the players to choose the captain in the first place. Emery cannot manage a group of players. At all. Anywhere.

Absolutely, one of the best 3 players at the club, just fell foul of the most ignorant fans in England, who will blame players based on absolutely nothing that I can see.

Their likes and dislikes make no other sense than they want to belong to a lynch mob, because it gives them a sense of belonging.

It is the worst part of the Internet age where this collection of people who have no credibility individually, get to gain weight through their anonymity. Somehow a few thousand outspoken morons get to determine reality, simply by drowning out anyone that disagrees with them.

Personally, I think it is a disgrace that these morons have taken over the club.

You think Xhaka is one of the three best footballers at our club? And everyone who disagrees with you is (a) an ignorant moron, (b) part of a lynch mob, (c) someone with no credibility, (d) someone who's only sense of belonging is by having an opinion about Xhaka?

Have you ever thought that you might be the one who is wrong, an ignorant moron, rude, arrogant and have zero credibility?

Dude, you're so angry most of the time, all seemingly because people don't bow down to your opinion. No-one is forcing you to post on this forum, to support arsenal or to follow football. If they all make you this angry just stop doing some of them.

Come on, he’s definitely not one of our best three players... he’s not even in our best three midfielders...

He’s on ok player who has done a decent job at times and been a liability at times. But we need better if we are going to get back into the top four.

Can Toledo please explain how/why he thinks that Kacka is one of our 3 best players - the two in front I assume are Aubameyang and Lacazette, but knowing Toledo he may think that Mustafi is up there

Here's how I'd rank our players from best to worst:

    Auba
    Laca
    Ozil
    Guendouzi
    Tierney
    Holding
    Bellerin
    Pepe
    Ceballos
    Torreira
    Saka
    Leno
    Willock
    Sokratis
    Luiz
    Martinelli
    Nelson
    Xhaka
    Chambers
    Kolasinac
    Maitland Niles

So there we go. Approx 18th best player we have in my opinion. Not without his uses. In the same way that a broken kettle has its uses. Actually. Not sure it does. No use whatsoever.

I'm sure he'll state we're all ignorant morons who don't value what Xhaka brings anyway and so there's no point in him arguing any further.

Of course anyone could name dozens of absolute ****ters who've played the odd game for us. But he's not far off being the worst player in the last 20 years who's appeared in every prem game in a season for us (2017/18).

Thonk of another arsenal player who played so regularly for us as a guaranteed starter that was more ****?

This Season we have played a 442, 442 diamond, 3412, 343 and a 4213 and have never repeated the same line-up for more than two games in a row.

.. all the while this is the first time in years we have a 100% fit first team.
