I know its been mentioned before about how bad it looks on tv when we have a low crowd and watching motd last night it looked god awfull. On the grand scheme of things 32k+ is still better than any other team bar 8 or 9 can even dream of getting and I still think it was a canny turn out all things considered. I just wish the club would try and sell out the lower bowl before selling tickets in the upper tiers, for one having all our fans closer to the pitch will enhance the atmosphere and could rub of positively on the team. I for one do care greatly about how outsiders view Safc and I know what they think when they see loads of empty seats on tv, most not knowing that's where the away support is supposed to be. I was shocked at how poor Stokes turn out was and prior to this season we should definitely moved the away seating to either the southeast corner or right in the corner of the premier concourse. On a positive note if we play against Norwich like we did yesterday and beat them I expect a minimum of 40,000 for west brom
This was pointed out to me by Arsenal supporters, who i watched the game with, it did look awful... Also they were taking the piss when people were leaving early, and then 6 mins injury time was added, so some missed over 10mins.. Never mind if they carry on, they may endure the same......
Agree. We all know why. Police control room, cells etc. but it looks terrible. The only good thing as far as TV is concerned is the away support tend to put a couple of flags in that area so you can see it is the away end.
One problem being a load of people I know love the view from the Premier Concourse. Not sure if they would be as inclined to go if they werent allowed to sit up there. Also not really fair if they buy their tickets early in the lower section, then after selling it out they are stuck down there when Premier Concourse tickets go on sale. Also I am sure its more expensive up there than the South Stand so no chance the club will make them move to cheaper seats. My stance has always been we will get crowds that are proportional to how entertaining we are. I am not particularly fussed with "how it looks" or what other fans think, so long as we are performing!
I normally sit in the concourse around the halfway line this cost me £37 for the Mags game. I sat just to the left of the goal in the North stand for a £10 v Stoke. I much prefer the view in the concourse, you can read the game better, you can judge distances better etc but due to the costs I may have to move there I know the corners are cheap (or were but is it not better to have an empty corner as opposed to an end?
all been said before, results affect attendance. Sunday game affects attendance. Holidays affect attandance. Away support affect attendance. GNR affects attendance.
Id say were doing pretty well really: http://www.premierleague.com/page/Statistics Teams Team P Average Attendance 1 Man Utd 4 75473 2 Arsenal 4 60089 3 Manchester City 4 46656 4 Liverpool 4 44872 5 Newcastle 4 44789 6 Sunderland 4 42225 7 Chelsea 4 41428 8 Tottenham 3 36150 9 Everton 3 33872 10 Aston Villa 4 31548 11 Stoke City 4 27507 12 Norwich City 4 26215 13 Fulham 4 25278 14 Bolton 4 25109 15 WBA 4 24135 16 Wolves 4 23966 17 Blackburn 4 22411 18 Swansea City 4 19483 19 Wigan Athletic 4 17340 20 QPR 4 15703 Not bang up to date as theres been 5 games played but still recon weve got a good average attendance compared to the rest of the league!
Stadium of Light capacity is 49000 our average is 42225 thats an 86.17 % average attendance. St James Park capacity is 52000 their average is 44789 thats an 86.13 % average attendance. SAFC still top dogs haha! Both teams have good support in my oppinion given the financial climate at the minute!
I dont know these stats but the club should. How many season tickets were sold, and where in the ground. Where ppl with season tickets sit How many ST holders were not at the game How many paid on the door. If someone buys a season ticket, then the club cant sell that seat on a match day, just incase the ST holder turns up, so it stays empty even though its been paid for. We may have had 60% ST holders there on Sunday with the GNR but sold 10,000 on the door, or we could have had 85% ST holders there, and sold 1000 on the door. It may not be as bad as it seems, or it very well might be, but the only people that know is the club, or they should, it wont be that hard to work it out if its all done automatically on the day.
I dont really care what it looks like on the TV to be honest, could be a good idea to move the away supporters which is apparently gonna happen but this is good so we can create a more intimidating atmosphere thats all, couldnt care less what it looks like! We start performing like we did yesterday in every game possible then the ground will be pretty much full every game! If the fans can see the work ethic of yesterday every game it wont be a problem!
It's a strange one which I believe wouldn't work unless you sold the season tickets at the start of the season that way, and didn't sell the concourse tickets until the lower sections were sold out. My solution would be that if everyone turned up for home games ready and willing to give 90 minutes of unconditional fanatical backing, the SOL would then once again become the place to be, rather than 'supporters' watching games from the local pubs.
Post that on the skunk board mate, it's amazing what you can do with numbers! BTW, how cheap is the cheapest ticket for the cheapest game (on average)?
Not to put a downer on those stats but ours is 38,915 average over the 3 games 79.42% just dont want you to go rubbing it in and get shot down big time.
