The Twitter/Reddit crowd believe we're trying to bump up his value before showing him the door in January...but we're doing the exact opposite, which can only be Levy's fault and then it just devoloves into complete nonsense that seems to forget that Lamela is injured and Lo Celso isn't match fit
He is a good player Spurlock so if he settled back down why not. He might have to who is going to want him with the performances he's put in recently?
So now that it is confirmed that he will make a full recovery, does the card get revised back to a yellow? Or does that depend on how many 'Get Well Soon' cards Son's family sends to his? Or does Son need to give Atkinson a lift to the hospital ward with a bouquet of flowers? You know what, **** it. Let's just decide yellow and red cards based on a lucky dip.
Is he that pivotal? His demeanour is unforgivable for me...the damage is done and it’s cost us. He doesn’t deserve a team to be built around him or anything of the sort and he’s a pussy in the big games. I’m up for a new ACM
So he gets a free pass for his **** shows and zero ****s being given for the cause so long as he signs a new contract? Not for me I’m afraid
This is the part that irritates me: Lo Celso isn't going to get match fit in 5-10 minute cameos, and we certainly shouldn't be following the approach we seem to be taking with Foyth and expecting the Argentina FA to get him some much-needed minutes The best approach for me would be to give Lo Celso the nod against Red Star and give him an hour to show what he can do and also get some much-needed minutes into his legs. I'll leave it to everyone else to decide who should replace him out of Eriksen or Winks...
As I said, that’s the only argument I can put forward in his defence. I didn’t say it was a convincing one, Bruv. I suggest you warm up the chopper and get me the hell outta here, yeah?
This ain't s dig at you or anyone else thst wants him to stay but I do not get how he can be so disinterested. People sing his name and he is paid s fortune yet he has done nothing of any note since the Arsenal match. He pulls out of challenges, his set pieces are appallingly bad and he is clearly putting in less effort than last season. I get out of form but will never accept "can't be arsed". I have sciatica...it is exceptionally bad at the moment so I csn not play tag ball or run around with them at play times but my enthusiasm, teaching standard, kindness etc in work has stayed the same cos those children deserve my best attempts. I see no reason why Eriksen can not respect us enough to give his best every time he is on the pitch. We all agreed that Janssen and soldado were not good enough but we sll cheered them and respected them cos they gave their best when on the pitch... Eriksen doesn't so as fsr as I sm concerned he can not leave wuick enough. It's a real shame but he, like Rose and Walker has started to wreck his status as a fans favourite.
Let’s not forget he couldn’t wait for the CL final to be over so that he could tell the world that he wants a new challenge. Obviously that detachment was present in him during that game for us and it cost us big time. Yes he wasn’t the only **** player that day but he does this in plenty games. You can’t build teams around mercenaries.
I would not rush to his defence although I am not a hundred percent sure it's not a loss of form as opposed to just not trying. At this level you have to be totally concentrated and he is clearly not that. If he goes he goes but if the club re signed him and he returned to his best I would go with that too, but right now I would drop him and make it clear that he is not at the required level and I really can't understand why Pochettino does not do that.
Indeed, not. They would be mercenaries from Division One, for a start. As much Eriksen’s lack of current form concerns me, he is better than Div 1 players. Then again...
If I felt we were turning a corner - or even saw signs of such - I'd be all for giving Poch more time but we're still seeing the same problems week-in, week-out in terms of poor selections and late subs with seemingly nothing being done about it. Worth remembering this isn't just a bad start to the season too so I'd like to think I'm not being rash, we've been terrible since January and only a crazy CL run (mainly down to individual brilliance from Son vs City and Lucas vs Ajax) has papered over that. I think another factor that needs to be taken into consideration is who we can replace Poch with. Right now I'd say there's a very good chance we could convince Allegri. The window to get him won't be around for long though, partly because if we leave it any longer we'll become less attractive but also because I think Emery and Ole are both on the verge of being sacked and you can put money on Arsenal/ Utd being interested in Allegri. I definitely agree that there's always the risk a new manager may or may not be better but our current form more or less says a new manager can't be much worse.
As arguably Eriksen's biggest fan I'm gutted at how poor he's been. I don't think it's been through lack of trying, he still covers a good amount of ground like he did when he was killing it but I think his head isn't in the right place and if a creative player's head isn't switched on they become redundant. On his day only KdB is better than him from a playmaker perspective but on this form, Lloris could probably play a better through ball than he can. Realistically he isn't signing a new deal, we've already offered him circa £250k a week (more than Kane) and it seems to have fallen on deaf ears so I think we have to appreciate the door to keep him is well and truly shut because I can't see Spurs going higher - and rightly so. I have no issues with anyone that wants to leave but they have to respect the club enough to a) act professional (which Eriksen and co have) and b) still perform until they've gone (which Eriksen and co haven't). On that basis they shouldn't be in the squad, if your head isn't in the right place you become a hindrance more so than an asset to the team. Personally I'll wish Eriksen all the best so long as he sticks to his word by not joining another English side having already rejected Utd's advances. He's been one of the best players I've managed to watch, not just at Spurs but in general. A shame how bad his performances have been of late but we have had 6 great years of football from him and he's helped us to some great memories.
Eriksen is not signing a new contract, I wouldnt be surprised if he has something already arranged for January or the summer. His head is no longer at Spurs, that is obvious, but the way he shirks tackles is just really annoying. Poch needs to move the team on without him, but Levy is probably telling him to keep playing Eriksen, to try and maximize any fee in January.
