considering the angle of the camera wouldn't the line need to be offset from the vertical to be accurate ?
yep but i was always of the opinion that the tech they had available could not be anywhere near as accurate as they reckon so none of this surprises me.
The stated accuracy is 30cm. Atkinson claims Firmino was offside by up to 1.5cm. PGMOL #sortyourstoryout
Isn't the "benefit of doubt to the attacker" still in play? In which case anything less than 30cm offside should count as onside. I think that 30cm error comes mainly from the distance everyone could move during the frame when the ball is actually played. Anyway Atkinson's cover up is now #exposed and there is no doubt he is a fraud. Now the only question is what agenda is fueling his corruption.
not with VAR in operation as they allow close calls to let go and then checked if a goal is scored plus offside decisions made by VAR (no laughing at the back ) are a "matter of fact" .
With a tolerance of +\- 30cm this will never be true. More so if you ignore the first ‘calibration’. It is clear as day that officials do not want to overturn their own decisions so why the f@ck have it in the first place?
Yep....and executed properly it would at least stop some big decisions going against teams unfairly. I would still be for it.....it’s not the technology that’s the problem here (apart from the stifling of celebration). However, the way that it’s being used here is to vindicate officials decisions whether right or wrong. Madness and self serving BS.
Cardiff still refusing to pay £5m Sala fee so facing transfer ban They receieved £100m last season just for being in the PL
Yes. I pointed this out on the other thread. Perspective means that lines perpendicular to the ground will diverge when viewed from above and at an angle such as the one shown. The piece of paper test is inaccurate because it isn't taking all of this into account, and people aren't generally familiar with these principles of perspective. However, as I said, I still think the decision was wrong, and was manipulated to support the actions of the on-field officials - it's just that lining up a piece of paper on a monitor is not an accurate way to judge.
I see ol' Garth has 8 goalscorers in his TOTW again, bless 'im. Though I do find myself in the rare position of agreeing with him when he says the Firmino offside is a joke.

Absolutely. I think the commentator on mine was Scots: it said STAR, but was a variant of SKY, I think (through Soccer Streams), and they did precisely what we both said - it came on and showed Bobby onside, was hastily re-drawn, then he was offside. I know it won't happen, but there should be an enquiry, As Astro would say, bentasfuck.
they will just say the VAR ref pointed out to the VAR technician that he had drawn the line from the wrong place as you can score with the armpit .
