yeah right its a conspiracy rather than trying to squeeze a "factual" answer to something they technologically cant .
Although I fully agree that it was a bad decision, I have to point out that analysing that picture is not as straightforward as it seems. Due to perspective, lines perpendicular to the ground will appear to diverge when below your eye-line, then converge above it. Having said that, I have no idea how the technology establishes perpendicular perspective, and it very much looks like they've just drawn the lines to suit their case here. I think it's another example of them not wanting to reverse the decision of an on-pitch official - the linesman in this case. If that goal had been allowed to stand, it would have been a very different game, methinks.
Rather than see var as a tool to improve descion making and accuracy, the refs have taken it as a threat. Rather than looking at replays and seeing it's an error, and admitting it was a close call but they have got it wrong, they are trying there best to use it to just back up the onfield descions. As has been said, if the linesman keeps his flag down, that goal is given, because he pops it up, var is used to back up his descion, prove him right. Var has its pros and cons, but the way the premiership has implemented it, has just made it one big disaster
Totally appreciate what you are saying Saint but on this occasion the lines were redrawn and at all sorts of slightly out angle wise to make it appear he was off when he is on. I made a joke of it originally but I am still waiting to hear how you score a legitimate goal with your armpit - I am certain if anyone except Henry or Maradona puts a ball in the net with their armpit it will be given as handball. Lamborini has posted a vid where Kammy is saying exactly what I had seen and worked out I don’t think it’s a conspiracy against us per say Defo some sort of cover up on a wrong decision though. As I said before - I think that the English refs don’t want it and are trying to mess it up deliberately. I just don’t see another explanation on how they are implementing it so atrociously. anyway I am over it now not like someone kicked Mane in the face and didn’t receive a red for it
Simple answer to VAR for normal decisions. If it takes the off field ref more than 30 seconds to make a decision then it stays with on field ref as it’s not clear and obvious. Get rid of this 3 minute back and forth delays. Same with offside. If it’s an armpit hair from offside surely the advantage goes with the attacker isn’t that how it always went. That firmino one is impossible to determine as where does his armpit start/arm end/chest start etc? It’s hard enough to determine with no shirt on, let alone with a football shirt covering the parts you’re trying to make a decision on
Var would actually work well with the ‘clear daylight’ rule that offside used to be as you would be able to check if there was any clear daylight between the 2 players.
the attacker being given the benefit of doubt was scrapped when VAR was introduced as recompense for the linos not flagging for offside when it was close .
Clearly Mike Riley is already compiling a document saying how VAR supported the officials' decisions in 99.99% of cases and therefore PGMOL should continue to be given free rein to decide on the implementation of the laws of the game and don't need any external assessment or oversight
Didn't see the game just MOTD which basically only showed the goals. I didn't see the handball incident, was it obvious? As for the offside One thing that pleases me is that we now keep going and going. It feels like we are taking on another team and VAR and we have to beat both.
Like Suarez. He dove a few times and exaggerated a few more and afterwards you could hit him with a croquet mallet in front of the ref and he'd only win a penalty half the time.
Oh, I agree entirely. VAR has been a farce all season. I was just pointing out that the piece of paper thing wasn't real evidence. Perspective is something I have reason to know about. Like Gray, I can see without the vertical lines that the defender is playing Bobby onside. Unlike some, I don't believe it's a conspiracy against us, but I do think it's a devious way of making the officials look better than they are.
Sadio Mane: Liverpool forward 'not a diver', says Jurgen Klopp https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50294040
"I didn't hear Sadio's name or know how he [Guardiola] could have known so quick about any incident in the game." Just think how quick Pep was on twitter to check our result
