We are currently where we are on merit. We have recorded club record winning margins at home (Prem) and away (Top tier), but there are lots of factors that could kick in during the rest of the season.

United, Spurs and even Arsenal (who are doing better league position wise) have squads that are underperforming and the spending capacity to bring in more top quality in January. One or more of them will, at some point, go on a good run for sure.

We have a very young squad and our confidence could be damaged with a couple of poor results back to back. In addition the media and indeed agents will continue to unsettle our young talents with stories of interest from the giants (real or not). These will be big challenges. Hopefully we will ride them.

But on the positive side, we are playing some great stuff and the club is currently in a brilliant position both off and on the pitch. So we'll just enjoy the ride, hopefully continue to defy the odds and continue to cause a lot of angst to the more disingenuous fans of some clubs (lot of bitterness and jealousy out there people). <cheers>

Away, we lost 5-0 their the season before last, only the 1-0 last season although we did manage to lose our last two home games against them 4-1 and 3-0 so may take the away game! Just seeing your highlights, looking far more defensively sound. You may thank us for the thrashing later if it focuses the club. Back to back at Man City isn’t the best way to bounce back in terms of points though but promising performance. McCarthy needs to keep his legs closed though!

Mixed feelings about that. He's a shrewd tactician, if not one of the best. Problem is, when it goes wrong (and it often does), he's unable to resurrect things. Often has problems in the dressing room, plays sterile, negative football, we all know how it goes. You know exactly what to expect from him. I wonder how ambitious it would be if Arsenal decided to give him a go. Not sure.

Failed to beat Brighton last season, so that would be an improvement.

As I said yesterday, they are a bogey side and Wilfrid Zaha's weight plummets unaccountably when he plays us, causing him to collapse a lot ... today will be a real test for us ... but we are in cracking form and Brenda deserves a great deal of credit for the belief and attitude within the squad at the very least. <cheers>

I thought the style of football would make it a non starter for a large chunk of the fans tbh, or is it a success at all costs situation now?

Well we don't exactly have "a style" at the moment. So perhaps its 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.A boring functional style is fine, when it wins you games. I would take 38 boring 1-0 wins. May not be pretty. But it's the antithesis of a Wenger type Arsenal where style was at a premium and results were secondary. The problem is, can you adapt when its needed?

it was until the refs started giving them for **** all again, so now players will risk getting a pen before it goes to var … earlier in the season they were starting to stay on their feet more .. I thin it changed when mane got the cheap on last minute I can't remember who against. Refs are so up their arses it wouldn't surprise me if they want full control , so they are doing their best to make var fail.. var wont ever be perfect , but there's less shockers where there no contact at all ,,... people forget fast!! there needs some changes made though.

He does seem to get extra affected by gravity....as so said on our thread, we had a similar winless run against Bournemouth so hopefully he can change that

Tbf mate there are some on here who spit venom as soon as Leicester are mentioned. Especially since they won the title.

    "Everyone" ? ... indeed it's only a few, but they do make a racket ... and perhaps I've touched a nerve ...

As to enjoying it? ... I'm enjoying it even more than I did during the title win ... because we now have the basis for many years in the top half of the table ...

... plus the egg on faces is priceless... have we missed big Harry? ... has the 'unknown' centre back delivered? have we got two of the best wing backs in the country? ... have we got more than our share of the best young players in the Prem? ...

No wonder I'm always in the thoughts of certain posters ... my eggo (pun intended) is in danger of spiralling (pun intended) out of control ... <laugh>

Indeed fella ... Spurmy isn't one in all fairness to him ... although I do enjoy winding him ...

... and it's not all about the team, there are a few who I rub up the wrong way (for which I'm truly sorry <whistle>) and would whoever I supported ... bless 'em ... as evidenced by the latest "... **** off" thread... which I don't believe is actually HIAG btw (Haggy G is still sulking) ... but it is someone going to an awful lot of trouble to appear to be Haggy ... whilst taking aim at a couple of poster's that get to them ... namely me and Ginge.

Now I could be wrong of course, it's always a possibility ... I think it happened once before ... when I was a kid

Massive game for the juggernaut later today. It will be tough but home advantage will see us over the line. Lamela to grab the winner.
