After the debacles at Huddersfield and against QPR McCann has done brilliantly to turn this around. The defense has become solid as a rock. Long has been great in goal, DeWijs and Burke are arguably the best CHs in the Championship. Lopes and Toral have added the missing creativity to mid-field. And Elder has filled a gaping hole at LB and made it his own. Add to that the goal scoring threat of Bowen and the speed of Grosicki and we have gone from relegation material to promotion contenders in a matter of weeks. An amazing turn around. A dispirited team against QPR has become a joy to watch. Exciting times. !!!!
Told that his opposite number Scott Parker had called Hull "the best counter-attacking team in the division", McCann attributed the compliment to work done on the training pitch during the week.
A joy to be there today. Particularly impressed with our composure out of possession. Defence in particular but also the whole team. High scoring Fulham never looked like scoring. Not seen Elder before but he really makes a positive difference. So, do we keep the starting team with their recent results or get Bowen wider where he excels. I think I’d start him wide.
We need a number 74. Buffooned: When a donkeyesque, six foot something galoot of a forward contrives to nearly miss an open goal by the act of tripping over his own feet whilst simultaneously toe-poking the ball slowly towards the line. The goal is vastly improved by the hapless, asinus falling over in a comedic manner whilst one, or maybe two, defenders desperately claw at the ball with their feet, head or hands, as it slowly evades their incompetent lurches.
Unofficial highlights Eaves goal just gets better with every viewing for now, call it ‘The Superman’.
Excellent Who put the through ball for Bowen’s goal?? Eaves actually finished that well Bowlers goal good too Hope he’s going to come on for that cos he’s been poor so far
It’s the Eaves aftermath. Everything looks accidental. Bowler been poor? I don’t think he has, he’s done alright.
Irvine passed to Bowen. That was Bowler's first league goal - good for him, he's still a young lad so hopefully that will really give him confidence.
****ing hell their left back (13?) looked as agile as me when Bowen skipped past him on the way to Eaves’ glorious strike!
What an outstanding win, unfortunately, I went away yesterday and miss watching the game, typical missing one of the great ones. I really thought McCann was out of his depth, but it seems I was wrong, his tactics and team selection have been nothing short of miraculous over the last 3 games. If this is what getting the fans back onside can do for the team, it really is shameful as this could have happened a few years ago if the owners had any sense. Long may it continue, also worth a mention what a good turn out at the game by the City faithful.
What a fantastic result! I definitely did not see that coming. I cant believe how much of a difference i saw from the two games i've seen live this season. At Millwall we looked shockingly bad. especially defensively. Yesterday we were composed, but pressed well. Elder looks superb and his cross for the first goal was Robertson-esque. The Midfield trio all worked hard and broke up play well. The big difference seemed to be that we were happy to let them have possession and be compact and patient, then break with speed when we could. Not entirely convinced that front three is the way to go long term, as it doesn't seem to play to Bowens strengths, but you really cant argue with the results! Tempted to travel up for the WBA game next weekend now!
