LFC fitness latest: Klopp's update on Matip and Keita


Liverpool will need to assess the fitness of Naby Keita ahead of Saturday’s trip to Aston Villa, Jürgen Klopp has confirmed.


The midfielder sustained an injury during the second half of Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup victory over Arsenal at Anfield which forced him from the field.

The Reds will check on his condition before deciding whether he can make the journey to Villa Park; however, Joel Matip will not figure as he continues to overcome a knee problem that has kept him out of the last three matches.

Klopp told his pre-match press conference: “Naby I don’t know yet [if he’s available], we will see.

 

So, no. Hopefully fit for Genk such that others get a rest for the City game.

The lad has ability, but just shies away from responsibility in games and avoids getting involved at times. Then there are his injuries, I suspect if that continues we will have to make a decision whilst he is still a sell able asset.

 

I think we should rest Firmino and play Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, I am not sure how to
reshuffle it ..Firmino. must play against city.

 

I'd play Firm and worry about City afterwards .

 

Firmino has a whole week off to rest for City. Just dont play him midweek.
